Yankees vs Angels Odds - Big, bad Yankees will beat up the Angels
The Yankees vs Angels odds should teach offshore sportsbook players a nice lesson about the law of averages in baseball. Remember when these two teams struggled out of the gate? If you did your homework, you knew it was only a matter of time before they both rocketed up the standings. Now, they clash in a battle of squads that both seem playoff bound.
Yankees vs Angels Odds: Friday, Sunday matchups very favorable for Yankee hitters
- Joe Saunders is a gopher ball dispenser
- Jered Weaver out for vengeance after All-Star snub
- Mark Teixeira haunts John Lackey’s dreams

Joba Chamberlain (4-2, 4.04) vs Joe Saunders (8-5, 4.44)
Talented, enigmatic Joba Chamberlain takes the hill for surging New York to open the Yankees vs Angels odds. There’s no denying his filthy raw stuff, but there’s also no denying his poor control. Now that L.A.’s bats are heating up, he’ll have to hit his spots better than normal. Pitching on the road Friday, Joba’s odds look good, as he’s 4-0 with a 2.74 ERA away from Yankee stadium this season.
Oh boy, Joe Saunders. You may want to duck and cover Friday night, seeing that you’ve allowed an American League-worst 20 homers in 2009 and your lifetime ERA against the Yankees is 7.63. I’ll go out on a limb and say the Yankees give Joba enough run support to win on Friday.
MLB betting pick: Yankees
Saturday, July 11, 4:10 p.m. ET
Andy Pettitte (8-4, 4.53) vs Jered Weaver (9-3, 3.15)
It may be time for Yankees vs Angels odds to shift L.A.’s way. Andy Pettitte is strong on the road this season, but he’s on pace to set a new career worst in homers allowed. Ten of his 14 gopher balls have come against righty hitters, and that’s bad news for Pettitte on Friday. Juan Rivera is swinging the bat as well as anyone in the AL right now and Mike Napoli, another righty, can hit the ball a mile.
Jered Weaver is a monster at home – 6-1 with a 2.05 ERA. He has plenty to prove after his All-Star snub, so MLB betting fans should ride him to victory.
MLB betting pick: Angels
Sunday, July 12, 3:35 p.m. ET
C.C. Sabathia (8-5, 3.70) vs John Lackey (3-4, 5.18)
The Yankees vs Angels odds give us a nice All-Star break sendoff with ace-on-ace action Sunday afternoon. C.C. Sabathia hasn’t been perfect in 2009 and he’s struggled in July, but he’s been effective more often than not and he’s strong away from Yankee Stadium (6-2, 2.98). He’ll have to watch out for Torii Hunter, who has 17 RBI in just 68 at-bats versus Sabathia all-time.
John Lackey has flashed his former self as he shakes off the rust after a DL stint, and his solid control is intact. However, opposing hitters are feasting on all those strikes, hitting .304 off him this betting season. Mark Teixeira probably gives Lackey cold sweats at night; he’s a .400 hitter with two homers and 11 RBI in 45 career at-bats versus Lackey. Since Lackey is also worse at home than away this season, I don’t him handling the Yankees vs Angels odds well on Sunday. Bet on the Bronx Bombers.
