Yankees vs Mets Odds - Yankees make first visit to Citi Field in Subway Series
As the Mets are shorthanded with injuries, the Yankees vs Mets odds for this weekend should favor the Bronx Bombers in several contests. Carlos Beltran, Jose Reyes and Carlos Delgado are on New York’s disabled list, and online betting handicappers know that it will be too much for the Mets to overcome.
Yankees vs Mets odds: Mets’ struggles stem from injuries
- Sabathia will start on Friday after biceps injury deemed mild
- Redding has been struggling to keep runners off base
- Wang is slowly finding his form
Yankees vs Mets odds: C.C. Sabathia (6-4) vs Mike Pelfrey (5-2)
Friday, 7:10 PM ET
C.C. Sabathia has been dealing with biceps tendinitis as of late, but he had a bullpen session on Wednesday and says he feels fine. This isn’t a good sign for any pitcher though, let alone Sabathia, who’s a work horse. The tendinitis indicates that those high innings totals are starting to take their toll. Yankees vs Mets betting sharps should be cautious backing Sabathia for a little while.
Otherwise, there might some value betting Mike Pelfrey on Friday night. He’s 2-0 with a 3.95 ERA at home versus 3-2 with a 5.79 ERA on the road.
Yankees vs Mets odds: A.J. Burnett (5-4) vs Tim Redding (1-2)
Saturday, 7:10 PM ET
Yankees vs Mets odds makers are going to expect a high-scoring affair on Saturday night as both starting pitchers like to give up runs in bunches. Burnett in particular is a streaky pitcher, and he’s been a groove over his last two starts. He’s given up just one earned run in his last 13.1 innings pitched and his ERA this month is just 2.74.
MLB betting handicappers should note that Redding has been at the other end of the spectrum. Redding has given up 27 earned runs in his 40 innings pitched, which puts his ERA 6.08 this year. He’s had trouble keeping runners off the base paths, giving up 42 hits and 17 walks in his 40 innings pitched. That won’t spell success against the high-octane Yankees lineup.
Yankees vs Mets odds: Chien-Ming Wang (0-6) vs Livan Hernandez (5-2)
Sunday, 8:05 PM ET
The sportsbook odds makers have noticed some improvement in Chien-Ming Wang’s recent performances, even though the New York and baseball media have been hounding him. While it’s true that he is winless this year and his ERA is 11.20, the fact of the matter is that he’s improved over his last two starts. His ERA is 5.40 over that span, which is much better than the 15.24 he’s posted in his other starts. But Livan Hernandez will start for the Mets, and clearly they’ll have the edge in this matchup.
