Lakers vs Celtics odds tip-off a great NBA Thursday
- Lakers vs Celtics odds: After mini-slump, Boston on fire
- Mavericks vs Jazz odds: Utah battling through injuries
NBA betting fans will get to see an awesome matchup on Thursday night as the Boston Celtics play host to the Los Angeles Lakers in a rematch of the 2008 NBA Finals. The late game will be a nice nightcap with the Dallas Mavericks traveling to Salt Lake City to face the Utah Jazz.
Lakers vs Celtics odds: Thursday, Feb. 5 at 8:00 p.m. ET
Sportsbook odds will have the Celtics as a small favorite at home against the top team in the Western Conference. The Lakers will be without their up-and-coming center, Andrew Bynum, who is out 8-12 weeks with an MCL sprain.
Bynum was supposed to be the key to the Lakers toppling the Celtics this year as the Lakers ventured to the Finals without him last season, but were exposed on the interior without their blossoming big man. Online sports betting fans will have to wait to see Bynum factor into the rematch.
For now, look for the Celtics to keep on rolling. After their minor mid-season slump, they have won 12 straight games and should be able to handle the Lakers, who will be on their second game of road back-to-backs.
Mavericks vs Jazz Matchup: Thursday, Feb. 5 at 10:30 p.m. ET
Believe it or not but, if the NBA playoffs started today, the Utah Jazz would not be one of the eight teams contending in the West. Mostly because of injuries, the Jazz are on the outside looking in. They’ll have an opportunity to gain some ground on the seventh-place Mavericks, who are two games up.
Those who bet sports know that while the Jazz have struggled with injuries, the Mavericks have struggled to beat any opponents with a winning record. The Mavericks are 13-6 against the Eastern Conference but just 15-13 against the West.
Dallas and Utah have played twice this season with each team winning by less than 10 points on their own home court.
The Jazz will be shorthanded on Thursday as Andrei Kirilenko and Carlos Boozer will be out while star point guard Deron Williams will be questionable with a knee injury. Williams has a swollen knee and might miss the game.
The Jazz just aren’t at full strength right now, which is why it’s better to side with the Mavericks.
