Tuesday NBA Playoff Betting – Trailblazers, Spurs on the brink of elimination

Posted by Craig Parsons on 8/25/2009 1:10:39 PM
NBA playoff betting

Tuesday’s basketball betting card has a full menu with four games. While the San Antonio Spurs and Portland Trail Blazers face 3-1 series deficits, the other two series will try to break their 2-2 deadlocks.

With wins on Tuesday, the Magic and Celtics can respectively push the Philadelphia 76ers and the Chicago Bulls to the brink.

Here's a look at the sportsbook odds.

NBA playoff odds: Tuesday night games

  • Bulls vs Celtics odds
  • 76ers vs Magic odds
  • Mavericks vs Spurs odds
  • Rockets vs Trailblazers odds

Bulls vs Celtics odds: Tuesday, 7:05 PM ET at the TD Bank North Garden
Line: Celtics -7.5

The Chicago Bulls have come back down to Earth after nearly sweeping the first two games in Boston. They had a wakeup call in Game 3 when they were blown out at home, and then barely got by the Celtics in Game 4.

The difference in this series is that the Celtics have the experience and savvy to go for the kill. Bet on the Celtics in Game 5 as the Bulls are too young to get the job done in this series.

76ers vs Magic odds: Tuesday, 7:35 PM ET at Amway Arena
Line: Magic -8.5

The Orlando Magic could have won both contests in Philadelphia, but they could have also lost both. Three of the four games in this series have now been decided on the last play of the game, which gives an indication of just how closely contested this series has been.

But for basketball betting fans, the difference is that the Magic have underachieved while Philadelphia has overachieved. On their home court, bet on the Magic to move ahead 3-2.

Mavericks vs Spurs odds: Tuesday, 8:35 PM ET at the Alamodome
Line: Spurs -5

The Dallas Mavericks haven’t had much trouble with the San Antonio Spurs so far in this series, as their depth and versatility has proved to be king. The Mavericks are not a very strong road team, though, and sealing the deal in San Antonio could be troublesome.

Bet on the Spurs to play their best game and avoid elimination, but look for the Mavericks to have a better shot of closing out this series back at home in Game 6.

Rockets vs Trail Blazers odds: Tuesday, 9:05 PM ET at The Rose Garden
Line: Trail Blazers -5.5

The Portland Trail Blazers are a young squad and their inexperience is showing. Their nerves came out for Game 1 of the series at home, which led to an ugly beatdown. In the two games in Houston, the Trail Blazers had trouble performing on the road, which is another sign of a raw team.

The Blazers do protect their home floor fairly well, though, and they should put forth their best game of the series on Tuesday night. Yet their backs are against the wall, which means nerves won’t come into play as much.

Bet on the Blazers to push this series one more game, but don’t expect it to last much longer than that.
