Betting The Cavaliers To Lose – 5 Excuses We’ll Hear From LeBron When He Leaves
The Cleveland Cavaliers were supposed to route the aging, sluggish Boston Celtics. Instead, they find themselves in a dog fight with a veteran team that can sense one last chance to win itall. On the brink of Game 5, it has to be rolling around in LeBron James’ mind that this might be his last home as a member of the Cavaliers. If he leaves to a team like New York when he becomes a free agent this offseason, online betting fans can expect him to rip a few people on the way out. After all, somebody has to take the blame for the Cavaliers playoff failures. Here are five excuses we’ll hear from King James as to why he never won a Championship in Cleveland:
5. Coach Mike Brown Isn’t A Championship Head Coach
Mike Brown has definitely been impressive as an NBA head coach. A lot of people were surprised when the Cavaliers picked him as a coach, but let’s be realistic. He gets worked over on the sidelines.
Stan Van Gundy took him to school last year in the conference finals and previously, he’s been embarrassed by Gregg Poppovich and now Doc Rivers. He’s a good regular season coach just like the Cavs are a good regular season team, but in the playoffs, he is subpar.
4. No One Else Stepped Up In The Playoffs
In the regular season, Mo Williams is running things and nearly an All-Star. Jamario Moon is flying high for dunks, Shaq is schooling people and J.J. Hickson is impressing.
But in the playoffs, the only player who has stepped his game up is James. As a matter of fact, pretty much every else has stepped their game down a notch – not up.
Sports betting fans know the Cavs can’t deal with any elite teams when they all know how to turn it on in the playoffs and James is the only member of his team that can do the same.
3. They Made A Love Of Moves That Looked Good To The Public, But Not Good For The Team
It’s no secret that the Cavs had to make a ton of moves to keep James happy and while it has made the team look better on paper, they really aren’t much better.
The addition of Shaq got everyone excited but realistically he is old and slow. Meanwhile, Moon, Anthony Parker and even Mo Williams have all been marginal upgrades.
In comparison to teams like the Magic, Lakers or Celtics, the Cavaliers look like a big mixed bag of various talent opposed to a cohesive team with all the right role players.
2. We Didn’t Have A True Point Guard
One of James biggest complaints will be the fact that in all of his time in Cleveland, the Cavs could never place a true point guard next to him.
Delonte West, Daniel “Boobie” Gibson and Mo Williams are not true NBA point guards. All can score and all can create some shots, but none can actually run an offense, create opportunities for others or lead as true point guards do.
Whatever his new destination will be, don’t be surprised if his new team slots him next to a true point guard immediately.
1. I Never Had A Sidekick
NBA betting fans know that this will be the biggest reason why James leaves. Kobe Bryant has Pau Gasol, Dwight Howard has Vince Carter, the Boston Celtics have a number of weapons, Carmelo Anthony has Chauncey Billups, but LeBron James has no one.
Antawn Jamison is the closest thing he’s had but he’s only had him for half a season. James isn’t quite a No. 2 and neither is Shaq, or Mo Williams, or anyone else the Cavs have.
If James is taking a night off, there is no one else to step up. As good as he is, the NBA is not a one-man sport and he needs help. In Cleveland, this has been their biggest downfall and will be one of the main reasons they lose again and one of the main reasons why LeBron leaves in the offseason.
