Basketball NBA Betting – A Look At The Week’s Action
Sports betting players are gearing up for some hoops action now that the football betting season is over, and there is plenty of action in your sportsbook this week, beginning with a run-and-gun affair in Golden State, and ending with a Western showdown in Denver (although we’re not sure if a Nuggets star will be in on the action).
(All stats as of Monday, February 7th)
Suns Warriors Betting – Monday, 10:30 PM ET
The Warriors are the home favorites by 4.5 points on Monday night against the Suns, who are 3-2 SU and 2-3 ATS in their last five trips to Golden State, who are 14-12 ATS at home while Phoenix is 10-12-1 ATS on the road. The Warriors come into this game on a three-game winning streak, and it’s likely that there will a slew of points scored. Four of the last five meetings in Golden State went over the posted total, and given the propensity of both teams to score a lot of points, while not playing defense, betting on the over would probably be safe. We’re staying with the hot team.
Betting Edge: Golden State Warriors
Grizzlies Thunder Betting – Tuesday, 8:00 PM ET
The Thunder will definitely be the NBA betting favorites at home, where they are 13-12 ATS this season, and they’re 4-1 SU and 4-1 ATS in their last five meetings with the Grizzlies, who are 18-11 ATS away from home. Both teams are playing well, with the Thunder riding a three-game winning streak, while the Grizzlies have won eight of their last 10 games. All five meetings between these two in Oklahoma City have gone over the posted total, and both teams should be rested as they’ve been off since Saturday. Look for Oklahoma City to turn this into a track meet, which gives them the edge.
Betting Edge: Oklahoma City Thunder
Bulls Jazz Betting – Wednesday, 9:00 PM ET
Utah will likely be favored by NBA betting lines at home on Wednesday against the Bulls, who are 1-4 SU and 3-2 ATS in their last five games at EnergySolutions Arena, with three of those games going under the posted total (there was also a push as well). The Jazz are only 12-15 ATS at home this season, while the Bulls are 12-10 ATS on the road. This will be a matchup of two of the NBA’s best point guards in Utah’s Deron Williams and Chicago’s Derrick Rose, but the spotlight will be on the Bulls’ Carlos Boozer, who left Utah in the summer to head to Chicago. We think he’ll be fired up to have a big game against his old team, which means a win for the road team.
Betting Edge: Chicago Bulls
Lakers Celtics Betting – Thursday, 8:00 PM ET
The Celtics will be the home favorites in the first game of the TNT doubleheader, but they’re only 2-3 SU in their last five in Boston against the Lakers, posting a 2-2-1 ATS mark. The last four meetings have gone under the posted total, so expect defense to be a factor. The Celtics are 11-14-2 ATS at home, while the Lakers are 12-12 ATS on the road, and they’re 0-1 in their lone game as an underdog. Both teams play on Monday, then they’ll be rested until the big game on Thursday, so there should be no excuses for either of the league’s most historic franchises. We’re leaning towards the Celtics, who are extremely good on their home court, but be wary of the NBA betting spread.
Betting Edge: Boston Celtics
Mavericks Nuggets Betting – Thursday, 10:30 PM ET
The Nuggets should be favored at home, where they are 21-6 SU, but only 12-13-2 ATS, while the Mavericks are 14-9 ATS on the road. Dallas had won eight in a row and have a pair of very winnable games at home against Cleveland and at Sacramento leading up to this game, and the Mavericks look like a legitimate NBA betting candidate for the title. The Nuggets host Houston on Monday, then visit Golden State on Wednesday before welcoming the Mavericks, and we’re not even sure that Carmelo Anthony will still be in Denver. Word is, talks with the New York Knicks have started to heat up, and with the trade deadline just around the corner on February 24th, and even though Denver is 3-2 SU and ATS against Dallas at home, we think this is a massive distraction for the Nuggets, which means we’re leaning towards the Mavericks in our online betting book.
Betting Edge: Dallas Mavericks
