Betting On NBA Basketball – Grizzlies Continue To Roll; Force Spurs To The Brink Of Elimination
In one of the most improbable opening rounds in the recent history of the NBA playoffs, the Memphis Grizzlies continued to roll Monday night in a 104-86 win over the San Antonio Spurs. Led by 15 points and seven assists from Mike Conley, the eighth-seeded Grizzlies moved to within one game of eliminating the first-place Spurs in front of an absolutely electric sellout crowd at the FedExForum. Trailing by two at the half, head coach Lionel Hollins’ team came alive with one of their best quarters of the online sports betting season to pull ahead by 13 by the end of the third, a lead that they would not relinquish the rest of the way.
After the game the Memphis players gave most of the credit to Hollins for what they called a dramatic halftime speech that really got them going, but the truth is that the execution that was carried out on the court was something to behold. The Grizzlies had already made history with their first NBA playoff win in franchise history when they surprised San Antonio in game one, but almost nobody saw this coming. Memphis is now on the verge of joining the 2007 Golden State Warriors’ team as the second eight-seed in NBA history to knock off a No. 1, and the way that they have done it has been nothing short of impressive and taken the spotlight off of any MLB betting results.
Conley scored 15 points and added seven assists while Darrell Arthur scored 14 off of the bench as the Grizzlies’ guards came alive with a scoring clinic. Veteran Tony Allen added 13 on the floor while remaining in the ears of his teammates as he continued to get them pumped, while this game was a total team effort as Zach Randolph and OJ Mayo each finished with 11 points each. The fact that Memphis was able to seal the win and take a three-games-to-one series lead against a team that won 60 games during the regular season is impressive, but the fact that they were able to do it while resting their starters for the final five minutes of the fourth quarter is something that is almost unbelievable. San Antonio is now in danger of becoming just the sixth team in NBA history to win that many games and then be eliminated in the opening round.
Each of the first three games had been tight with none decided by more than three points, but this one blew things wide open. The Grizzles opened the second half with a 14-0 run that was the difference, as the Spurs turned the ball over seven times in the frame. While it was the big men like Randolph and Marc Gasol that made the difference in the first three games when they combined to score over 40-percent of the team’s points, they scored just 20 together in this one as Conley and company really carried the load. The Grizzlies will now get three chances to put away San Antonio before this year’s Kentucky derby betting race, and only time will tell if they can pull off the incredible run.
