Charlotte Bobcats Odds - BetOnline.com's Charlotte Bobcats Preview
The Charlotte Bobcats odds to win the NBA Championship are still among the furthest in the league. While many online betting minds thought that the Bobcats would see some significant growth now that head coach Larry Brown is running the show, they are still the East expansion team that hasn’t made the playoffs.

Charlotte Bobcats odds maker breakdown: STARTING FIVE
The Bobcats starting five will include Raymond Felton, Raja Bell, Gerald Wallace, Boris Diaw, and Tyson Chandler. For the most part, it’s a very similar roster to last year. Felton, Wallace and Chandler can all be above-average players, but consistency is an issue. Meanwhile, Bell is a good defender and Diaw is a good passer, but the general problem with this lineup is there’s no go-to guy. Chandler will be a key factor this year, even though he’s recovering from a knee injury. The team traded Emeka Okafor for him in the offseason.
Charlotte Bobcats odds maker breakdown: BENCH
NBA betting fans know that the Bobcats would have a solid bench had they had a solid starting lineup, but instead, a lot of these reserves are asked to do too much. D.J. Augustin is a good point guard but he doesn’t have room to play with Felton in the starting lineup. Flip Murray is a decent backup guard, but he’s a journeyman. The last key reserve will be Vladimir Radmanovic, who has also been a bust in his career. Overall, this team is thin in the frontcourt and thin on star power.
Charlotte Bobcats odds maker breakdown: OFFENSE
Sportsbook odds makers know that the Bobcats are a low-scoring team and they may produce even less points this year. The Bobcats traded their only interior scorer, Okafor, and now they aren’t left with many points in the paint. Chandler is a good cleanup man when he’s healthy, but he doesn’t create his own offense. And therein lies the problem of this team: Without a go-to guy, the Bobcats don’t have enough players who can create their own shot. They also don’t have anyone who is a consistent scorer when it’s 11:30 in the first quarter or 1:24 in the fourth quarter. This is just a poor offensive team.
Charlotte Bobcats odds maker breakdown: DEFENSE
The Bobcats are a good defensive team because Coach Brown preaches defense. They have a good team concept, yes, but they are not a shutdown team. Chandler is a good shot blocker when he’s healthy and a good rebounder, which will help the team’s defense. Also, Raja Bell and Gerald Wallace are good one-on-one defenders. This team will be tough to play against but they don’t score much themselves.
Charlotte Bobcats odds maker breakdown: COACHING
Larry Brown is a good head coach, but he’s still a brick short of a load with this team. If they had one superstar - which they may get in the 2010 free agency season - they might be able to do so damage. At this point, Brown will coach this team up but that won’t be enough on its own.
Charlotte Bobcats odds maker breakdown: SEASON OUTLOOK
The Bobcats have a lot of appetizers but they are missing the main course. The Bobcats look like a team that is positioning themselves to try to get a big name in the 2010 free agency, and they have three expiring contracts this season. But with this specific roster, it just isn’t good enough to make the playoffs in the East.
