Memphis Grizzlies Odds - BetOnline.com’s Memphis Grizzlies Preview
Could the Memphis Grizzlies odds be low? No, seriously - could they be low? It might sound crazy to tell online betting cappers that the Grizzlies might be somewhat decent, but they do have some nice pieces. The Grizz have a roster that’s ready to make a jump - the question is whether perennial losers like Zach Randolph and Allen Iverson will help or hinder.

Memphis Grizzlies odds maker breakdown: STARTING FIVE
The Grizzlies starting five is similar to last year, which is great from a consistency standpoint for a young team. The Grizzlies have Mike Conley at the point, Rudy Gay and O.J. Mayo at the wing spots, and Marc Gasol at center. The last piece is Randolph, who’s the inside scoring threat that the Grizzlies have needed, but teams that he’s played for have declined with him on the roster. If he can change that perception and provide the Grizzlies with a reliable double-double threat, this team could be better than expected. Aside from that, Mayo and Gay still have to learn to play together and Conley Jr. has some more growing to do.
Memphis Grizzlies odds maker breakdown: BENCH
NBA betting fans saw Iverson sign with the Grizzlies and they’re curious to know the impact. If Iverson can be a team player and simply provide some points off the bench, this could be a good experiment. If he’s going to come off the bench and take 30 shots per game, this will be a bad experiment. The Grizzlies have tons of talent off the bench, including first-round picks Hasheem Thabeet and solid prospects Sam Young and DeMarre Carroll. This could be a good bench if head coach Lionel Hollins can get everyone on the same page.
Memphis Grizzlies odds maker breakdown: OFFENSE
Sportsbook odds makers expect this team to be fairly high-scoring. Between players like Gay, Mayo, Iverson and Randolph, there is plenty of firepower. On top of that, solid scorers like Conley and Gasol should chip in close to double-figures a night. Filling it up won’t be a problem for this team, but stopping teams might be.
Memphis Grizzlies odds maker breakdown: DEFENSE
Part of the problem for the Grizzlies is that they don’t have a very good team concept. On offense, it has to do with them taking too many shots. On defense, it’s a lot of miscommunications and breakdowns. This has to improve if the Grizzlies are to make a serious push for a .500 record.
Memphis Grizzlies odds maker breakdown: COACHING
Coach Lionel Hollins is the holdover after the Marc Iavroni firing, but at this point, it’s hard to judge how good of a coach he really is. The team responded to him when he took over, but often we see a change in performance (for the worse) when the interim head coach becomes the full-time head coach.
Memphis Grizzlies odds maker breakdown: SEASON OUTLOOK
This is the most talented Grizzlies roster in franchise history, but it’s still a chemistry experiment. If Iverson and Randolph can fit in, if Gay and Mayo can learn to play with each other, if the three rookies who started last year have grown and if the new wave of rookies are good contributors, then this team should get over their regular season win total rather easily. If the chemistry experiment implodes - like it always has wherever both Randolph and Iverson have been - then the Grizzlies are in for another tumultuous season.
