NBA Betting Odds – Weekday Trends And Picks
Online betting players will have a solid slate of NBA games to bet on during the week, including a couple of appearances from the Miami Heat, who look like the league’s best right now, while Denver will be on the slate for a couple of games, although we’re not sure if they’ll have their star for either of them.
ALL NUMBERS AS OF MONDAY< JANUARY 10, 2011
Rockets Celtics Betting (Monday, 7:30 PM ET)
The Celtics will likely be favored at home in this contest, even though the Rockets are 3-2 SU and 4-1 ATS in their last five trips to TC Banknorth Garden. There is no line for this game yet as Boston is awaiting word on the status of Kevin Garnett, who has been out for six games with a leg injury. Still, the last three meetings between these two in Boston have had the Celtics favored between 10-11 points. The Celtics are 7-10-1 ATS at home this season, while the Rockets are 9-10-1 ATS on the road. We’ll take Boston as a SU bet as they’ll be hungry after a tough loss in Chicago on Saturday night, but be wary of the spread.
Suns Nuggets Betting (Tuesday, 9:00 PM ET)
This game is interesting as the Nuggets are reportedly close to dealing All-Star Carmelo Anthony in a three-player deal which includes Detroit and New Jersey, who would be getting Anthony. The Nuggets will likely be the NBA betting favorites here, as they are 4-1 SU, but they’re a scary 1-3-1 ATS in their five at the Pepsi Center against the Suns, who are trying to hold onto two-time MVP Steve Nash. The Nuggets are only 6-11-2 ATS at home this season, but they’re a poor 5-16-2 as a favorite. The Suns are 7-9-1 ATS on the road, and they’re 8-10-1 ATS as an underdog. The Nuggets have dropped three in a row, while the Suns snapped a three-game skid, and we’d take them with the upset with all that is going on in Denver this season.
Heat Clippers Betting (Wednesday, 10:30 PM ET)
The Heat should be a double-digit favorite in Los Angeles on Wednesday night, as they have won 13 games in a row on the road, three short of the NBA record. The Heat are 1-4 SU and 3-2 ATS in their last five at the Staples Center against the Clippers, but Miami didn’t have LeBron James and Chris Bosh for those games, and remember, their last trip to the Staples Center was on Christmas Day, when they stomped the defending champion Lakers by 16 points. Miami is 13-7 ATS on the road, while the Clippers are 11-11 ATS at home, and there should be an NBA betting prop for explosive dunks in this game as James and the Clippers’ Blake Griffin should rock the rim a few times. We’re betting on a rout by the Heat.
Magic Thunder Betting (Thursday, 8:00 PM ET)
The Thunder will likely be favored at home in the first game of the TNT doubleheader, but the NBA betting lines probably won’t be that large either way it goes. The Thunder have split their two meetings with the Magic both SU and ATS since moving to Oklahoma City, and they’re 11-9 ATS at home this season, while the Magic are 6-11 ATS on the road. Both teams will be on the second half of a back-to-back as Orlando will be in New Orleans on Wednesday, while Oklahoma City will be in Houston, and we’re going to give the edge to the Thunder at home, even though the Magic had won nine straight after winning in Dallas on Saturday. This is the third of a five-game road trip for the Magic, and we think the Thunder will catch them sleeping on Thursday.
Heat Nuggets Betting (Thursday, 10:30 PM ET)
The Heat should be favored on the road in the TNT nightcap, and they’ll be out to end to snap an eight-game SU streak in Denver that goes back to January 2003, and they’re 2-6 ATS in that span. Again, they didn’t have James and Bosh at that time, and the Nuggets will likely still be dealing with the Anthony issue, if he isn’t in New Jersey by then. It doesn’t matter what kind of game the Nuggets want to get into, the Heat are better than them in every facet, and with it being a televised game, you know the Heat will have their show time pants on. Take the Heat in your sports betting book.
