NBA Betting Odds - Wizards, Jazz to cover as home underdogs
NBA Odds: Pick Wizards +7.5 / Jazz +2.5 |
The Washington Wizards are having some chemistry issues but they’ve had some time off to think about their last two losses. They’ll try to bounce back on Thursday night after three days’ rest when the Boston Celtics visit. Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz faced one-half of the 2009 NBA Finals when they lost in Los Angeles on Wednesday night, and they’ll face the other half of that equation on Thursday when the Orlando Magic visit.

Celtics vs Wizards odds: Celtics -7.5
The Wizards are coming off a very uninspired effort as they lost 98-94 in Detroit. In that contest, Antawn Jamison and Gilbert Arenas failed to score a single point in the fourth quarter. The Wizards are still trying to find their feet, but when they’ve played smart, they’ve been able to come up with some big wins. The Wizards have won in Dallas this year and they also topped the Cleveland Cavaliers at home. They’re a capable bunch.
Meanwhile, Boston is on fire right now - winning eight straight games - so they’ll be tough to stop. They hold some significant edges in this contest, and in most cases, the Celtics would roll through this team but home teams play well on the national stage when TNT is broadcasting.
Pick: Wizards +7.5
Magic vs Jazz odds: Jazz +2.5
The sportsbook odds makers have made the Jazz a big home underdog, and they can look at a similar situation from last year to gauge the line. Last year, the Jazz came home on the back end of back-to-back contests and were smoked by the Magic, who were without Dwight Howard. The Jazz played the Los Angeles Lakers last night and lost and now come home to face the Magic one night later. In that contest, Hedo Turkoglu and Jameer Nelson - two players who will not play on Thursday - combined for 40 points, 11 assists, six rebounds, six steals and six three-pointers.
NBA betting fans might expect another loss for the Jazz here, but the Jazz were embarrassed on Wednesday, which means they should be in for a much better effort on Thursday. The Jazz had a six-point fourth quarter, which narrowly missed the NBA record for fewest points in a quarter. They’ll be anxious to get on the court and make amends for that mistake. Take the Jazz as a home dog as they bring a much more inspired effort tonight.
Pick: Jazz +2.5
