NCAA basketball betting – Tar Heels runaway favorites for NCAA championship
Bet on sports: who’s your best bet for the Final Four?
- Tar Heels enter as massive favorites for national title
- Blue Devils aim to crush dreams of their bitter rivals
- Louisville, Michigan State are excellent value picks
The North Carolina Tar Heels are no strangers to college basketball success, having won the Final Four four times in their prestigious history. Heading into the 2008-09 season, online sportsbook oddsmakers have made the Tar Heels a massive favorite in Final Four betting.
The Tar Heels enjoy college basketball odds of +250, and a team that made it to the Final Four last year welcomes its top five scorers back, including reigning Player of the Year Tyler Hansbrough.
Hansbrough, Wayne Ellington, Ty Lawson and Danny Green all were tempted by the draft, but thought otherwise of it, and these returnees make North Carolina the team to beat this year. Not to mention, the North Carolina recruiting class, led by John Henson, has been rated the top in the country. It’s obvious why they’re leading Final Four futures.
College basketball betting fans can expect some noise from UNC’s bitter rival Duke, which is next in line with NCAA basketball odds of +1000. Kyle Singer should be ready to break out after a solid freshman campaign, while Gerald Henderson should step into the forward role vacated by DeMarcus Nelson’s graduation.
The Blue Devils were largely a perimeter team last year, and they should look more often to Singer inside if they want to compete with the Tar Heels.
Michigan State and Louisville offer great value in Final Four odds at +2000. The Spartans will miss the leadership of Drew Neitzel, who graduated, but Raymar Morgan looks poised to become a star on the college basketball scene. However, Michigan State must deal with a competitive Big Ten conference.
Louisville was supposed to challenge last year and stumbled out of the gate. The Cardinals came on late in the year and scared North Carolina in the NCAA Tournament, sparked by a solid performance from Edger Sosa. If Sosa can return to his freshman form, the Cardinals make for legitimate college basketball picks.
It’s still too early to make concrete Final Four picks, but early college basketball odds point to North Carolina, and with good reason. The Tar Heels are insanely talented, experienced, and now a little bitter because of their disappointing 18-point loss to Kansas in the Final Four.
North Carolina had more than enough talent to win last year, and Hansbrough, who is noted for his insane work ethic, will surely be pushing his teammates even harder to claim the NCAA title. Expect to ride UNC in NCAA basketball betting this season.
