Georgetown vs Louisville Betting Odds – Sloppy play will hurt Hoyas at Louisville
NCAA Basketball Odds: Pick Louisville |
Online betting players have been watching a war in the Big East, who had four teams in the top 25 last week and could have two No.1 seeds in the NCAA Tournament, following up their trio of top seeds from last year. Georgetown are seeing their hold on a No.2 or 3-seed loosen with a late-season slide, and they’ll head to Louisville to face a streaking Cardinals team. Look for Georgetown’s lack of a point guard to hurt them against a pressing Louisville defense.

The Storyline: Georgetown vs Louisville Betting Odds
The Hoyas (18-7, 8-6) have dropped two in a row, including a disappointing 75-71 loss at home against Syracuse on Thursday, and Georgetown has a tough stretch of games heading into the final portion of the regular season. The Cardinals (18-9, 9-5) have come on with five wins in their last six games, and a 68-59 win at DePaul on Saturday was their third straight. A win would pull Georgetown even with Louisville in the tight Big East standings, and every game counts in the nation’s toughest conference.
Offensive Matchups: Georgetown vs Louisville Betting Odds
The usually efficient Hoyas shot 38.5% from the field against the Orangemen, even falling down by as many as 23 points before fighting back. Georgetown got 61 points from Austin Freeman, Greg Monroe and Chris Wright, but only 10 points from the rest of the team, and their perimeter shooting was terrible as they shot 25%, when they’re usually closer to 39%. Georgetown also struggles with turnovers.
The Cardinals didn’t waste many shots at DePaul, shooting 49% from the floor, and the duo of Samardo Samuels and Edgar Sosa should be getting national recognition, but they’re far too inconsistent. Louisville doesn’t shoot that well from beyond the arc, but they sometimes fall in love with the three-point line. Samuels is shooting over 52% from the floor and should get as many touches as possible, even against Monroe.

Defensive Matchups: Georgetown vs Louisville Betting Odds
Georgetown needs to be physical without committing fouls, as they sent Syracuse to the line 30 times on Thursday. They couldn’t keep up with the Orangemen on the outside, particularly Andy Rautins, who burned the Hoyas for 26 points. Georgetown isn’t as strong on the glass as they have been in past years.
The Cardinals could be a sportsbook darkhorse for March Madness, if they could only shore up their defense. Louisville commits a lot of fouls, give up a lot of three-point shots, although they do pick up some steals due to their gambling nature. They played well against DePaul, but that’s a one-win team in the Big East, so you can’t take too much away from that.

Coaching Matchup: Georgetown vs Louisville Betting Odds
This game is crucial for John Thompson III, who has to get his team back on track in a hurry. You can’t have a three-game losing streak this late in the season if you want to have confidence going into the Big East and NCAA Tournaments.
Rick Pitino has the Cardinals going the other way, and no one really has talked about Louisville yet this season, which is a testament to the strength of the Big East. A win over the Hoyas, and the Cardinals find themselves in the hunt for the regular-season title.

Betting Prediction: Georgetown vs Louisville Betting Odds
The Cardinals should be favored at Freedom Hall, where they are 14-3 and have won their last four games. The Hoyas have won two of their three trips to Louisville, but their lone loss came last year, falling 59-51. Georgetown’s road play has been up and down this year, and they’ll need someone outside of their big trio to score because with Louisville’s high-pressure defense, there will be a lot of attention paid to them, especially Monroe and Freeman. Ultimately though, they’ll need someone to handle the ball against the Cardinals’ pressure defense, and that will hurt them on Tuesday. Go with the streaking team from Louisville.
Washington’s Pick: Louisville
