There’s plenty of reasons to celebrate in Wisconsin after a Packers’ championship and consecutive homes wins for the Badgers, including a 66-59 win over Purdue that knocked them down four spots in the national rankings and in to a tie for second place in the Big Ten.
College Basketball Betting Preview: Ohio State
The Badgers will be tackling a whole different type of opponent when they take on the top-ranked Buckeyes for the first time this season. Ohio State ranks fourth in the country in field goal percentage with a mark of nearly 50-percent, with leading scorer Jared Sullinger the biggest reason why. Sullinger has hit nearly 60-percent of his shots this season while scoring a team-high average 18 points per game, while junior guard William Buford has hit 44-percent of his shots from beyond the arc to lead the team in three-point percentage, and is second in team scoring with 13.6 points per game. That tandem has developed the perfect chemistry, along with the rest of a Buckeyes’ team that has been great at both ends of the floor.
College Basketball Betting Preview: Wisconsin
In order for the Badgers to have any chance of slowing down Sullinger and company, they will need senior Jon Leuer to be at his best. The 6’10 forward ranks among the best in the Big Ten with a team-high 19.4 points and seven rebounds per game and will be asked to help contain Sullinger. Leuer will get help from Jordan Taylor on a Wisconsin offense that has had trouble with ball movement this betting season. Taylor is second in team scoring with 17.8 points per game and is averaging 4.6 assists, but that number accounts for almost half of the team’s assists.
College Basketball Betting: Outlook & Pick
It’s never too early to begin talking about the chance of an undefeated Big Ten season, and while Duke’s shocking loss to St. John’s is proof that you cannot project those types of things based on the schedule, the Buckeyes are getting close. Trips to Wisconsin and Purdue are the hardest tasks left for 24-0 Ohio State, a challenge they can be half-finished with a big road win Saturday night against a tough Badgers team that should keep it close for most of the game.
