The “Hitman” Hatton may be one of the most popular British boxers in the world, but he has passed his peak in North America. After stepping into the ring with Floyd Mayweather and leaving with his face beat in, Hatton has become somewhat exposed.
However, the online betting community should realize that Hatton lost to one of the best fighters of all-time, which there isn’t a whole lot of shame in; although Hatton has the blemish on his record, that loss is as credible as it gets. Still, as we approach the Pacquiao vs Hatton odds on May 2, Hatton is facing another all-time great, one who may be better than Mayweather.
Manny Pacquiao is one of the sport’s biggest stars and, when he fights, generally everybody bets on him. Pacquiao has continued to climb in weight class but that hasn’t affected his speed or power. He has held belts in an unprecedented five different divisions and a win over Hatton would put him in a class of his own. Pacquiao has destroyed everything in his path, including virtually all of Mexican boxing.
There were some trepidation prior to his last bout against Oscar De La Hoya, and how he would handle a bigger fighter, but after Pacquiao knocked the bigger De La Hoya out while displaying the same amount of speed, boxing betting fans don’t have any more questions.
There are few stars that are as revered in their home land as Pacquiao. He’s sold millions of copies of his musical album, even though he’s a boxer, and he sways the political vote. But if there is another boxer that rivals his popularity, it is Hatton. He is treated like a star in England and is arguably the second-most popular international boxer. Either way you’ll have a lot of people bet on Pacquiao and a lot of people bet on Hatton.
Regarding Pacquiao vs Hatton odds, it’s hard to envision Hatton winning. Since size is clearly not a factor, Hatton will have to find a way to deal with another fast fighter. Boxing betting fans know he struggled to deal with one all-time great in Mayweather, and if Pacquiao displays the same speed, the result should be the same.
ATELLA’S PICK: Hatton simply can’t handle Pacquiao’s speed. Bet on Pacquio (-250).
