The BetOnline.com online sportsbook is predicting a close game, as the CFL betting odds are tight. Toronto and Saskatchewan both rallied late last week to pick up wins, making those who love betting on sports very happy.
The Roughriders trailed by two points with just two minutes left, but a timely interception set up the go-ahead score and an eventual 41-33 win over Montreal.
Quarterback Darian Durant continued his amazing run. Durant has filled in for injured starter Marcus Crandell (hamstring injury) the past two weeks, and he's shown so much juice, Saskatchewan could have a quarterback controversy on its hands before long. Against the Alouettes, Durant threw for 353 yards and three touchdowns. He also tossed two picks that led to Montreal points.
The Roughrider offense has been rolling all season, averaging 33.5 points per game (first in the CFL). The wealth has been spread throughout the team, as eight different players have already scored. Considering that statistic, it shouldn't who is Saskatchewan's starting quarterback. Crandell is expected to return against Toronto, but it's tough to argue with Durant's results.
Saskatchewan's defense has some teeth, too; it's ranked second in the Canadian Football League in points allowed. Lance Frazier, who came up with the interception that turned around the Alouette game, is always in the middle of the action. He already has three picks this season.
The Argonauts got a touchdown scamper from quarterback Kerry Joseph to earn a 35-31 win over Edmonton. The score came with just 23 seconds left and will be a huge emotional boost for the team. Joseph had an unbelievable game, throwing for 343 yards and rushing for 118 more. There's no doubt his performance is affecting the CFL lines and keeping the Argos from being even bigger underdogs.
Toronto had trouble scoring until this game. It has the tools in place to be dangerous, so I'm betting the team is back on track now. What's more concerning is the defense, which is allowing over 30 points per game. The Argos at least held the Edmonton Eskimos to a paltry three points in the fourth quarter last week, giving the offense a chance to rally.
Keep an eye on James Robinson. The receiver exploded against the Eskimos, catching 10 passes for 194 yards and a touchdown. With more efforts like those, the Argonauts defense won't have to stop anybody.
The CFL betting odds favor the Roughriders, who are undefeated this season, but Toronto was expected to be one of the league's best teams in 2008. It appears they're righted the ship, so don't be surprised if they pull off the upset.
