Football betting fans know division rivals already have no love lost between them, but meeting in the playoffs is a whole different ball game, especially for those who bet on sports. Big plays and an efficient defensive plan fueled the Eagles to a 26-14 win at Minnesota last weekend, as they got a 71-yard touchdown catch-and-run from Brian Westbrook, while Asante Samuel returned a pick 44 yards to the house. Donovan McNabb was 23-of-34 for 300 yards, a touchdown and an interception for the Eagles, but defense is where Philadelphia really shone. It gave Adrian Peterson 83 yards and two scores on the ground, but the Eagles decided they would let Minnesota pivot Tarvaris Jackson try to beat them through the air. This was a great decision as Jackson was 15-of-35 for 164 yards and the pick to Samuel.

The Giants, always a strong NFL betting pick, are coming off a bye with the best record in the NFC at 12-4. They’re powered by the league’s best ground game and the No.5 defense in the NFL. Brandon Jacobs is the key to this offense; the bruising back had 1,089 yards and 15 touchdowns this year, but he battled injury problems over the second half of the season. This could mean more work for Eli Manning, who was 14th in passer rating this season.

STAN’S PICK: Eagles vs Giants odds are tilted towards the defending Super Bowl champions by four points, and the Giants have won six of their last 10 against the Eagles, although the pair split their two meetings this season. The road team won in each instance, and the margin of victory was 5.5 points on average, so all signs point to a close NFL betting contest. The Giants lost three of four to end the season, but they won the game they needed to take as a victory over Carolina gave them home field throughout the postseason.

The Eagles are playing as well as anyone in the league right now, but McNabb, Westbrook and company have met their match in the Giants’ defense, while Jacobs should dominate the running game. Bet online with the New York Giants.
