Why Auburn Will Win
< The ranks of college football betting experts know that a 12-game season isn’t free of tests. The LSU Tigers have been winning rather easily in recent weeks, but that pattern is likely to come to an end before too long. Louisiana State usually plays close games in this series with Auburn. Even when one school has the clearly superior team, a blowout does not emerge. Auburn was the school with the bona fides and big-play studs last season, but LSU stayed in the arena for the full 60 minutes before falling just short at Auburn. Could we see the same scenario, only in the opposite direction? It’s entirely possible.Auburn running back Michael Dyer is the kind of player who can and will break tackles, even against a defense as formidable as the one LSU will field this Saturday night. If Dyer can run for 150 yards, Auburn can control the ball, shorten the game, and establish the pace it wants. It’s simply not too much of a leap of the imagination to ask for a productive game from Dyer. The other thing to realize is that while LSU quarterback Jarrett Lee has been so consistently good this season, the pressure of this backyard SEC rivalry could get to his head.
LSU has had other teams with talent similar to this year’s group. The Bayou Bengals fell short only because their skill-position players made mind-blowing gaffes in the heat of competition. LSU is always one or two jarring Jarrett Lee mistakes from becoming a fragile, frail ballclub once again. Just a few untimely miscues are all it takes for Auburn to come into Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and steal a win.Why LSU Will Win
When you contemplate your sports bet on this game, don’t overthink the matter. Auburn might have Michael Dyer and yes, Jarrett Lee could make a few mistakes, but one must realize that as Auburn gets ready to play this game in LSU’s stadium, the visitors don’t have an imposing quarterback. Last year, Auburn brought Cameron Newton to the battle. This year, AU’s quarterback situation is muddled, with Barrett Trotter, Clint Moseley, and Kiehl Frazier fighting for the starting job.
None of those three quarterbacks has claimed the job with clarity and conviction. Both men have shown glimpses of promise but have remained fundamentally unsteady over the course of the season. LSU is already the better team at most positions; Auburn needs a great performance from the quarterback spot to have a realistic chance in this contest. The boys from the plains of Alabama are not likely to get what they need in Baton Rouge.
Who Will Win
It’s not hard to predict: Auburn will play LSU tough for two or two and a half quarters, but an inability to throw the ball will make the visiting Tigers limited. The homestanding Tigers with “LSU” on their helmets will pull away in the second half.
