Despite the fact that traditional SEC powers like the Alabama Crimson Tide and Florida Gators will not make the trip to this year’s national title game, the conference will be well represented with the top-ranked team in the nation in the Auburn Tigers. Auburn dominated their way through a schedule that featured the Crimson Tide among other top 25 teams, but will face their toughest task against the No. 2 Oregon Ducks in the finale.

Oregon led a rejuvenated PAC-10 conference that featured four teams that ranked in the top 25, with the top-ranked offense in the country leading the Ducks to a perfect 12 wins. The Ducks did not face a team from the SEC all college football betting season however, and will need to be prepared for a more physical contest than they’ve faced all year.

Ducks’ quarterback Darron Thomas wasn’t bad either, throwing for 2,518 yards and 28 touchdowns, and perhaps hasn’t gotten enough attention for his quality play in the shadow of James. Oregon’s defense is fast and does an excellent job of swarming to the ball, but will need to show they are strong enough to contest with a strong Auburn offensive line that dominated opponents this year.

That line is a big reason why quarterback Cameron Newton won the Heisman trophy award as the most outstanding player after throwing for 2,589 yards and 28 touchdowns. While Oregon is the much quicker team, Auburn can force them to play at a slower pace by being physical and running the ball a lot. It seems as though the Tigers have shown their resiliency no matter what obstacles they have faced this season, and that will be the case again as the nation’s best team proves they deserve that recognition.
