Bet Baylor Bears – Can Bears End Bowl Drought?

2009 Baylor Bears Betting Recap
After Art Briles made the Houston program respectable, he moved on up to the Big 12 to take over Baylor. In his first year, Baylor was 4-8 and surprised some people. In year two, online betting fans saw the Bears finish 4-8 once again and while the team improved on the field, they didn’t improve record-wise and it frustrated the fans.
The biggest surprise that should encourage fans is the fact that the Bears played a chunk of the season without quarterback Robert Griffin. He is the star of the team and most integral member, yet he tore his ACL and missed every conference game. After he was lost, the Bears were supposed to fold up like a cheap tent yet they stayed competitive.
Without Griffin, the Bears finished 10th in offense in the Big 12, which goes to show how much they need him.
Otherwise, the Bears did some growing under Briles and are starting to understand what it takes to compete in the mighty Big 12 South. Regardless of where they are now, the one thing that is for sure is that they are no longer a doormat.
2010 Preview To Bet Baylor Bears
NCAA football betting fans are curious what to expect from this Bears squad. With a healthy Griffin, they could be a real thorn in the side of a number of Big 12 teams, but when you look at the schedule, can they be much more than that?
They have trips to Texas Tech, Colorado, Oklahoma State and Texas. They also have a non-conference road game against TCU, which won a BCS Bowl game last year. On top of that, they’ll have visits Kansas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma.
Overall, the Bears offense should be good with Griffin back. The offensive line has grown quite a bit and looks to be a powerful unit. The talent is there at wide receiver and running back for support, but Griffin has to be at full strength.
Meanwhile, the Baylor defense is Big 12 caliber, which means they give up tons of points. Last year, they gave up 30+ six times and there aren’t many signs that it has significantly improved.
Briles is hopeful that a good recruiting class can get better as the season progresses, but right now, it’s a tough unit to gauge.
If the defense can be decent, the Bears should get to a bowl game. And even if not, their offense can win them some shootouts. Look for a six-win season from the Bears as they continue to improve under Briles.
