Bet Boston College Eagles – More Mediocrity On Chestnut Hill
2009 Recap
Sports betting fans know that 2009 was a very trying year for the Boston College Eagles. It ended with an Emerald Bowl loss to the USC Trojans and overall, it wasn’t a year that will be distinguished for any one reason.
Quarterbacking – and the offense – was a big problem as there was not any good quality production. Two true freshmen – David Shinskie and Mike Marcovetra – were very inconsistent and the Eagles were forced to rely on their running game. When it worked, they were able to win games. When it didn’t, they would get into low-scoring dog fights that generally contributed to their five losses.
The ACC isn’t exactly rich with quarterbacks but the Eagles were still in the back of the pack in that category. The two losses to Clemson and Virginia Tech came by a combined score of 76-21, which goes to show how much work they have to do. Overall, they were outscored 148-63 in their five losses, which goes to show just how lacking their offense really is.
2010 Preview
NCAA football betting fans know that the Eagles defense will once again be somewhat decent but the real question is how will the offense improve?
There will be an opportunity for them to get a running start as five of their first six games are at home. Head coach Frank Spazian could use a good start as the team looks like it was somewhat deteriorated from the Jeff Jagodzinski squad two years ago.
Shinskie will likely keep the quarterbacking gig but he is entering his sophomore year at the age of 26. Unless he’s the reincarnation of Chris Weinke, the Eagles probably won’t be much better than they were in 2009.
Running back Montel Harris is the star on Chestnut Hill but realistically, the Eagles need a whole lot more from their offense than just him if they want to be better than a seven or eight win team.
On defense, the Eagles will be tough to run on with a stellar linebacking corps but the rest of the unit is just so-so.
As a whole, not much has changed for this team and online betting fans should expect another mediocre year.
