Bet UConn Huskies – Don’t Be Surprised If Huskies Come Away with Big East

2009 UConn Huskies Betting Recap
Online betting odds weren’t even the most important thing the Huskies overcame last year, as 2009 was a very heart-wrenching season in Connecticut. The Huskies started off good enough with a win at Ohio, followed by a narrow loss at home against then-No.19 North Carolina. The Huskies won at Baylor and against Rhode Island by a combined score of 82-32, followed by another tough loss, this time by three points at Pittsburgh, but they bounced back to beat Louisville. Then, tragedy struck. Cornerback Jasper Howard was stabbed to death at an on-campus dance after homecoming, and the team felt the junior’s loss, falling at home to Rutgers and on the road against West Virginia and Cincinnati, who were both ranked at the time, and the Bearcats were fifth. It all changed with a gutsy double-overtime win at Notre Dame that turned the season around, and the Huskies would go on to win their last three games of the year at home against Syracuse and South Florida, and a 20-7 win in the Papajohns.com Bowl over South Florida. Howard would have been proud of the way his teammates rallied together at the end of the year.
The Huskies started with Zach Frazer under center, but he hurt his knee in the North Carolina game, and Cody Endres took over for five games in the middle of the season. UConn was 57th in offense, but they were 27th in scoring at 31.1 points. The Huskies also had a pair of 1,000-yard runners with Jordan Todman and Andre Dixon out of the backfield, which took a lot of pressure off the quarterbacks. The defense missed Howard as a player, finishing 88th against the pass, but it was encouraging how they pulled it together down the stretch.
2010 Preview To Bet UConn Huskies
NCAA football betting players won’t allow the Huskies to sneak up on them this year, as they should have pretty good odds to compete in the Big East. Eight starters are back on each side of the ball, and the Huskies still also have both quarterbacks from last year, although Frazer will be in the starter’s role. Todman will get more carries with Dixon graduating, and the offensive line could be the best in the conference. The defense has to sort out their problems in the secondary, although there is experience back there. The Huskies also need to replace Linsdey Witten, who led the Big East with 11.5 sacks.
UConn begins with a high-profile visit to Michigan to kick off the season, then they’ll get a bit of a break with a visit from Texas Southern, a trip to Temple and a home game against Buffalo. The Huskies should be able to navigate a back-to-back at Rutgers and Louisville, and it’s down the stretch that UConn can show what they’re made of: visits from West Virginia and Pittsburgh with a bye week between them, a trip to Syracuse, another big home game against Cincinnati, and the season finale at South Florida.
The Huskies lucked out with the schedule as their toughest games will be at home in front of their fans, and it’ll be emotional already as they plan to honor Howard’s memory all season. But it’s not just an emotional aspect that will spark this team: the Huskies are a good football team. UConn has to find some receivers for Frazer, but they should have a solid running game that allows them to control the clock. The secondary has to improve, but the Huskies have all the tools to be a great sports betting darkhorse in the Big East.
