Bet Duke Blue Devils – Blue Devils Will Regress In 2010

2009 Duke Blue Devils Betting Recap
Online betting fans know that the Duke Blue Devils are better known for college basketball than college football, but that somewhat changed in 2009.Head coach David Cutcliffe has helped his team make strides in his first two seasons on the job but they still only finished 5-7 in 2009 and lost their last four football games, which put a bit of a damper on the season.
Under Cutcliffe, quarterback Thaddeus Lewis grew into one of the best in the ACC and that is what really propelled the Blue Devils. Their offense became dynamic and while their defense was still one of the weakest in the conference, they were able to win games by outscoring opponents.
An accurate assessment of Duke is that they climbed out of the basement in the ACC and beat teams like North Carolina State, Maryland and Virginia, but they are still just on the first floor and a long way from the penthouse in the ACC.
They were crushed by Miami, Georgia Tech and stifled by Wake Forest and North Carolina to end the year, which shows that Duke football still has a long way to go.
2010 Preview To Bet Duke Blue Devils
College football betting fans are curious as to how the Blue Devils will perform for Cutcliffe in 2010. The loss of Lewis is a big gaping hole on the offense but Cutcliffe is a quarterback coaching guru. How fast can Sean Schroeder or Sean Renfree really take over? The Blue Devils will be more focused on running the ball in 2010, more out of necessity than preference.
Running back Desmond Scott is a good one and he’ll have some good company with Josh Sneed. While the Blue Devils have a solid offensive line, the question will be whether the quarterback is good enough to force teams to back off the run.
The defense was a weak spot in 2009 and it looks like it will be more of the same in 2010. The Blue Devils are thin on talent up front and they could be abused all season long if the offense can’t contribute enough points.
A successful season in Duke would be another five-win season where the Blue Devils display that last season was no fluke. If they can do that, then they can spring board to a winning season in 2011.
For this year, visits from Alabama, Miami and North Carolina, and trips to Wake Forest, Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech is too daunting a task to manage a winning season.
