Bet Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets – Can Bees Run Through ACC Again?

2009 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Betting Recap
While the ending was a bit sour, it was still a very special year for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in 2009. The Yellow Jackets broke through and won the ACC but online betting cappers saw their one-dimensional offense struggle against a swarming defense like Iowa’s in the Orange Bowl.
But on the whole, the Yellow Jackets had a huge year and rushed through the ACC all the way into the BCS. Running back Jonathan Dwyer was a stud and combined with wideout Demaryius Thomas and quarterback Joshua Nesbitt turned out to be a Heisman contender.
The lingering problem for the Yellow Jackets all year long was their defense, which kept letting them down. It nearly cost them a BCS berth when they lost to rival Georgia and then when they nearly lost to Clemson in the ACC Championship Game. Even in the Orange Bowl, allowing 24 points to Iowa was too much for such a low-scoring offense.
What compounded the problems was the fact that their offense is not built to come from behind, which has to be a key point of emphasis going forward.
The two main points from 2009 have to be the fact that their defense has to improve first and foremost and their offense has to be more capable of coming back in worst-case scenarios.
2010 Preview To Bet Georgia Tech
With Derrick Morgan gone, how does the feeble defense improve? NCAA football betting fans should still see some improvement because head coach Paul Johnson quickly snapped up a former head coach and smart defensive mind: Al Groh.
Groh will employ a 3-4 defense, which could mean a steep learning curve, but this defense will improve in the long run. Morgan was a first-round pick and the defenses biggest playmaker, so there will have to be a team-wide improvement to pick up the slack.
The secondary is experienced, which will be a key as the front seven gets acclimated to their new roles.
On offense, the Yellow Jackets will have plenty of consistency with Nesbitt back. He will surely be a Heisman contender in 2010-11, especially with Dwyer moving on.
The offense will be stellar and the only real concern is the front five. They return just two starters from last year’s unit, which could be a concern.
Overall, expect another good year from the Yellow Jackets and possibly another ACC Championship if the defense can find its feet early on.
