Bet Kansas Jayhawks – Jayhawks Aren’t Ready To Compete In Big 12 North

2009 Kansas Jayhawks Betting Recap
It was a very ugly end to what truly a decent level of success in the Mark Mangino era in Kansas, but that’s just how the cookie crumbled. Overall, the Jayhawks were 50-48 under Mangino with three bowl wins and four appearances in eight years. Especially with the three bowl wins coming in the last five years, it looked like the team was trending upwards.
But the Jayhawks were just 23-41 in Big 12 conference play and then came the allegations of verbal and physical abuse of the players, and Mangino was released.
On the field, the Jayhawks had a brutal year in conference play in 2009, which made the decision even easier. After a 6-0 start, sports betting cappers saw the Jayhawks finished 1-7 against Big 12 teams including embarrassing losses to Colorado, Kansas State and Texas.
With a new coaching staff coming in and a clean slate, not much will carry over from 2009, which means it’s back to the drawing board for the Jayhawks in 2010.
2010 Preview To Bet Kansas Jayhawks
Turner Gill didn’t get the Auburn Job two years ago but now he gets a bump up to the Big 12 conference as he takes over the Jayhawks. After finishing 2009 with seven consecutive losses, the Jayhawks are clearly in disarray.
Gill has a lot of work to do, including determining what kind of quality he has on his roster. One thing that we know we’ll see a more positive approach from Gill after Mangino berated and destroyed his players.
It’s going to be a long season in Lawrence without question. The Jayhawks didn’t have that solid of a roster last year and they will be without their three best offense weapons now as record-setting quarterback Todd Reesing and wideouts Dezmon Briscore and Kerry Meier have graduated to their pro careers.
The Jayhawks are very inexperienced at quarterback and NCAA football betting fans know you can’t go very far without a quarterback. The good news is that their long term prospects look good – especially if Quinn Mecham – a standout high school quarterback – pans out.
On top of that, there is plenty to replace at wide receiver, but Johnathan Wilson and Bradley McDougald look like they are ready to step up at the position. The best news is that the offensive line returns intact, which should give some time for growth to the other moving parts on the offense.
On defense, it’s going to be a rough year. They are switching back to the 4-3 but the defensive line doesn’t figure to be much better. The linebacking corps is alright but the secondary is also very leaky. In the Big 12, you better have an offense that can light it up if you’re defense is going to be this suspect.
Overall, it’s a rebuilding year in Lawrence and nobody is going to tell you otherwise. Gill gets his first shot at a big program and we’ll find out whether there will be a foundation for bigger things but for now, it will be another arduous year.
