Bet Nebraska Cornhuskers – Huskers In Line For Consecutive North Titles

2009 Nebraska Cornhuskers Betting Recap
It was a memorable year for the Nebraska Cornhuskers and while they returned to respectability, they could have made an even bigger splash. The Huskers nearly upended the pre-planned Texas-Alabama show in the BCS Championship Game when they were one-second away from upsetting the Longhorns in the Big 12 Championship Game.
The Huskers were led by a phenomenal defense, which led the nation in fewest points allowed. That was clearly head coach Bo Pelini’s signature as he himself is a defensive-minded head coach.
On offense, the Huskers had much to be desired but the good news is that they were competent. They did enough considering they were backed by an outstanding defense and with the Big 12 powerhouses on the other side of the ball, but they still ranked 99th overall and could have been a championship contender had they played a bit better.
Quarterback Zac Lee started 12 games as a sophomore and while he did give the team a boost at times, in other games he showed that he’s very inconsistent. He didn’t have a ton of help but he didn’t exactly save the day either.
NCAA football betting fans know that with Texas and Oklahoma retooling, there could be an opening for Nebraska to win the Big 12 in 2010 if they can improve.
2010 Preview To Bet Nebraska Cornhuskers
One of the biggest questions heading into 2010 is whether Lee will keep his starting job. He had offseason surgery on his throwing elbow and while he can’t lose the job through injury, he will have to re-earn considering the spring play of Taylor Matinez and Cody Green. Both Martinez and Green are dual threats with their feet as well, which makes it a tougher choice to stay with Lee unless he improves.
Online betting fans know the offense will have to improve somehow and there’s a good chance of that with 10 returning starters.
On defense, the Cornhuskers lost one of the best defensive players in all of college football as Ndamukong Suh graduated to the NFL and four other starters are also gone. The good news is that the Huskers have a very deep secondary this year and they still have an elite defensive line.
Overall, the Sooners lost Sam Bradford and the Longhorns lost McCoy – is that enough to open a window of opportunity for the Huskers? Possibly. In the weak Big 12 North, this team should win the division but they’ll need to catch a few more breaks in 2010 to win the conference and head to the BCS.
