Bet North Carolina Tar Heels – Bar Is Being Raised At Chapel Hill

2009 North Carolina Tar Heels Betting Recap
If there is one thing for certain, it’s that Butch Davis has turned the North Carolina Tar Heels around. They aren’t exactly a pretty team quite yet but they are finding ugly ways to win games.
In 2009, they were still short on talent as his recruiting classes were still a work in progress, but they still executed well and were very competitive. Online betting cappers saw them win eight games and lose three games by a total of six points.
The schedule was fairly easy but they still nearly knocked of a very good Pittsburgh team in a bowl game and they did beat Miami and Virginia Tech – two ACC contenders.
The Tar Heels didn’t have anyone particularly special on their roster a year after Hakeem Nicks bolted for the NFL. That was evident as the team was good in many places but lacked an overall outstanding playmaker.
Ovearll, NCAA football betting fans know that the Tar Heels are slowly making some big strides in the ACC. They are no longer cellar-dwellers and they are going to be a very tough team to beat in the coming years.
2010 Preview To Bet North Carolina
The Tar Heels have a ton of returning starters – 19 to be exact – and this is going to be a very big make or break year for them. No, the BCS isn’t part of the picture although it would be nice, the Tar Heels fans want to see if their team can compete for an ACC Championship and be treated as a serious threat in the ACC.
That will start and stop mostly at the quarterback position on offense where T.J. Yates has either held his team back or made them succeed. Backup Brynn Renner is a top five recruit out of high school, which means that if Yates can’t get the job done, Renner will get a shot.
In addition, the Tar Heels need to find some consistency in the ground game. If their offense is as toothless as it was in 2009, this year won’t be a banner year by any stretch.
The defense returns nine starters who have a combined 233 starts among them. This will be a smashmouth unit. They ranked sixth in the country last year and will be one heck of tough unit to face on a weekly basis.
This is a team that’s been one or two plays away from competing for a division title the last couple of years and they will challenge once again. The real question is can they finally execute and be the dangerous team many think they can be or whether this is still a second-tier ACC team.
The bottom line is Davis has improved the expectations for the Tar Heels and they are no longer an afterthought in the ACC.
