Bet Oklahoma Sooners – Sooners Have Health And Focus For 2010

2009 Oklahoma Sooners Betting Recap
The Oklahoma Sooners had BCS Championship aspirations at the beginning of 2009 but they were quickly dashed. NCAA football betting fans the Sooners dream go down the drain in the opening weekend after an injury to Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford keyed a loss to the BYU Cougars. Just when things looked like they were turning around, losses to Miami and then Texas further deflated Oklahoma. The team was riddled with injuries throughout as tight end Jermaine Gresham was lost for the year before the season started and Ryan Broyles missed a chunk of time as well.
While the season didn’t turn out to be another banner year, there were a number of positives that came from it.
For starters, quarterback Landry Jones got into the lineup sooner than expected and his growth process began. On top of that, running back DeMarco Murray proved that he was a standout as did receiver Ryan Broyles. At the end of the year, online betting fans saw the Sooners finally win a bowl game – this time the Sun Bowl – which further brings momentum for 2010.
It wasn’t what the Sooners expected – as a matter of fact, it was much worse than they expected – but they could see a lot of the positives for 2010.
2010 Preview To Bet Oklahoma Sooners
The Sooners have been tight-lipped in the offseason as fans and media weren’t even allowed to most offseason activities. That’s a big change in the Bob Stoops era but that goes to show just how focused they are to make this a banner year.
For some teams, when your program gives up three of the top four picks to the NFL draft and four first rounders overall – Bradford, Gerald McCoy, Trent Williams and Gresham – the expectations for the following season aren’t great. For Oklahoma, that’s not the case.
But for Oklahoma, they are ready to compete again. The offensive line should be much stronger than last year, which will be a huge benefit to Jones. And another boost to Jones confidence is that he was named the MVP of the Sun Bowl and is the No. 1 starter through the offseason.
Jones will have Murray and Broyles to work with but some other receivers will have to develop for this offseason to be as explosive as it once was.
On defense, it will be a work in progress with McCoy gone as well as two starters at linebacker. The secondary is also being rebuilt but Oklahoma always finds a way on defense. The Sooners have two excellent defensive ends in Jeremy Beal and Adrian Taylor, which should allow them some time to find their feet in the secondary.
The Sooners do have a tough non-conference schedule with Cincinnati, Florida State and Air Force on the radar. But this team is capable of a BCS run if they avoid injuries.
