Bet Oklahoma State Cowboys – Cowboys Will Get Bucked This Year In Rebuilding Season

2009 Oklahoma State Cowboys Betting Recap
The Cowboys got off to a great online betting start by beating Georgia in the season opener in a battle of two ranked teams, but then they fell on their face with a loss to Houston. Oklahoma State then won five in a row, but in the midst of that, they lost receiver Dez Bryant to a NCAA suspension due to his involvement with NFL legend Deion Sanders. Texas ended the Cowboys’ five-game winning streak with a 41-14 thrashing in Stillwater, which they followed with wins over Iowa State, Texas Tech and Colorado. The season didn’t end on a high note for the Cowboys, as they were blanked 27-0 at rival Oklahoma, then they lost 21-7 in the Cotton Bowl to Ole Miss, which was their second consecutive loss in a bowl game.
The defense struggled against the pass, finishing 89th in the country, and they were lit up for 366 yards against Houston in their first loss of the year. But still, no one expected the Cowboys to finish 31st in total defense, so coordinator Bill Young can say that his first year in Stillwater was a success. The offense lost a bit with Bryant out of the lineup, as Zac Robinson lost his favorite target and as a result, his numbers went down across the board in his senior season, except for interceptions. Keith Totson stepped in for the injured Kendall Hunter and had a 1,200-yard season in the Oklahoma State backfield.
2010 Preview To Bet Oklahoma State Cowboys
Oklahoma State’s NCAA football betting odds could take a bit of a hit as they’re returning only 10 starters, including eight position players. Brandon Weeden will replace Robinson under center, and Hunter will be back to take some of the pressure off him. He’ll have three of the top five receivers from 2009 to throw to, but that’s only if he has time: the Cowboys have to replace four starters up front, including Russell Okung, who went sixth in the NFL draft. The defense lost a lot of playmakers, but they’ll get one back in linebacker Orie Lemon, who missed all of last year with a knee injury. The Cowboys are going to have to generate a pass rush to make up for a young secondary and a lack of talent at linebacker.
The Cowboys’ non-conference schedule shouldn’t be too difficult, although a visit from Troy could end up being a problem. Games against Texas A&M and at Texas Tech will sandwich a visit from Louisiana-Lafayette, and it gets tougher in the second half of the season. Oklahoma State will host Nebraska before a four-game stretch that involves road trips to Kansas State, Texas and Kansas. Finally, there is the annual “Bedlam” showdown with the Sooners, and after last year’s whipping at Oklahoma, you know the Cowboys will be up for this. Whether or not they have the talent to challenge the Sooners remains to be seen.
Oklahoma State’s chances aren’t looking too good in 2010 as coach Mike Gundy heads into a rebuilding year, and unless the new starters can make a seamless transition into the lineup, it could be a long year in Stillwater. The offensive line has to gel quickly to give Weeden time to throw, and outside of Hunter, there aren’t a lot of playmakers on that side of the ball. The same holds true on the defense, and even with Lemon back, Oklahoma State’s linebacking corps took a big hit with all the departures. You would do well to stay away from Oklahoma State’s sports betting odds this season, although we’re sure Gundy will be good for a quote or two.
