Bet Syracuse Orangemen – Football Season = A Delay To Hoops Season At ‘Cuse

2009 Syracuse Orangemen Betting Recap
Online betting players saw Syracuse give the starter’s role under center to Greg Paulus, who is more known for his work at Duke….on the basketball court. That’s the kind of season it was for the Orangemen, who opened the season with losses at home to Minnesota and at Penn State, before a narrow home win over Northwestern and a victory over Maine. The Big East portion of the slate began with losses at home to South Florida and West Virginia before a welcoming win over Akron, then the Orangemen lost three straight to Cincinnati, at Pittsburgh and Louisville. The Orangemen then surprised everyone by beating No.25 Rutgers 31-13 in their final home game of the season, and while they put up a good fight against UConn on the road, they were thumped 56-31 by the Huskies in something that looked like a score from their storied basketball programs.
The Orangemen struggled to move the ball with Paulus at the helm, and while he completed 67.7% of their passes, there were a lot of screens being thrown as Syracuse barely went down the field. Delone Carter was the star of the show with a 1,000-yard season in his senior year, while Mike Williams was having a good year before he quit on the team. The problem was a defense that gave up a lot of big plays, especially through the air as the Orangemen were 113th in pass efficiency defense, which is a shame because they were sixth in the country in sacks, powered by the duo of Doug Hogue and Derrell Smith. The secondary was a mess, but the run defense let them down in the finale against UConn, allowing 204 yards on the ground, which was more than double their average.
2010 Preview To Bet Syracuse Orangemen
Doug Marrone had a tough first season, and NCAA football betting players shouldn’t expect much from the Orangemen in 2010. Four starters return as Marrone is overhauling the entire offense, and the plan is to go down the field more. But they still don’t have a No.1 quarterback between Ryan Nassib and Charley Loeb, but Nassib should get the call as he split a lot of time with Paulus last year. Marcus Sales and Alec Lemon will try to fill the void left by Williams, and they’re going to need a receiver as Carter was arrested and maybe available for practice….maybe. The defense may be counted on to carry the team with six returning starters, although the secondary can’t afford to give up big plays like last year, and the Orangemen will have all new corners.
It isn’t an easy start for Syracuse as they open the season at Akron, Washington and South Florida as the Orangemen go trotting around the country, and their home opener against Maine is their third game of the year. After welcoming Pitt to the Carrier Dome, the Orangemen will head to West Virginia and Cincinnati, followed by a home game against Louisville, and another road game against Rutgers. Syracuse ends the season with a home double against UConn and Boston College.
It should be another long year for the Orangemen, as there is just too much to replace on an offense that wasn’t that great to begin with. The Orangemen are lacking in offensive playmakers and while Syracuse does want to go down the field more, they first need the talent to do it. The defense should be alright again, but the secondary is questionable. This is truly the beginning of the Marrone era as he can play kids that he’s recruited, but for this year anyway, avoid Syracuse’s sports betting odds like the plague.
