Bet Texas Longhorns – How Far Will Longhorns Fall?

2009 Texas Longhorns Betting Recap
2009 was a banner year for the Texas Longhorns, even if they fell just short of where they were hoping to end up. The Longhorns played in the BCS Championship Game but an early injury to star quarterback Colt McCoy dashed their chances of winning it.
Even so, the Longhorns had a huge year from top to bottom and they have much to be proud of.
It started with McCoy’s decision to return and along with roommate Jordan Shipley, the tandem essentially carried the offense. There wasn’t much of a consistent running game to speak of, so McCoy’s presence was even more critical.
On defense, the Longhorns were smashmouth and one of the best in the nation. Online betting fans saw what they were capable of when they slowed a number of Big 12 offenses.
There were some shaky moments though where the National Championship was in peril. A shaky win over Texas A&M and then a miracle last-second field goal in the Big 12 Championship carried them to the Championship game.
While they didn’t win it, they still had a memorable year and another one that Mack Brown can add to his resume.
2010 Preview To Bet Texas Longhorns
The Texas Longhorns have a lot of questions to answer in the 2010 season, but one question they don’t need to worry so much about is who is quarterback. Garrett Gilbert was thrown into the fire in the national championship game and he played very admirably – nearly bringing his team back – and he’s the unquestioned leader heading into 2010. But NCAA football betting fans are curious to know if there is enough talent around him to compete.
The Longhorns are still lacking a lead running back, which has been a problem for a while now. Gilbert may be a bit ahead of his time – he’s very mature for his age – but he won’t be able to do it alone. Shipley is gone off the offense and without a lead running back, it looks like Gilbert will have to do a lot on his own to start.
The defense will also take a step back as linebacker Sergio Kindle and safety Earl Thomas have graduated to the NFL. There are still new playmakers ready to step up – especially in the secondary – but there will be a transition period. The defense has two stellar ends in Alex Okafor and Sam Acho are primed for a big year. That give the defense plenty of time to adjust as they rebuild.
Overall, Oklahoma is rebuilding as well, which might make Nebraska the team to beat in the Big 12. In a weak year, Texas still could compete but this unit doesn’t look overly strong. Expect a good year but unless a number of players come out of the woodwork, this won’t be a banner year.
