Bet Texas Tech Red Raiders – Tuberville Era Begins

2009 Texas Tech Red Raiders Betting Recap
After a magical 2008 season, where it looked like the Red Raiders crash the BCS party with historic win over Texas, 2009 was a big letdown. While head coach Mike Leach said that his team might be just as good – if not better – online betting sharps knew that the reality was very different. Losing Graham Harrell and Michael Crabtree turned out to be huge losses and the Red Raiders simply couldn’t compete with the big boys.
While the Red Raiders failed to accomplish what they wanted to in the win column, it was also a year that was marred by the eventual firing of Leach. Leach built the Red Raiders program up and his demands forced the players to raise their standards to the point where they were a National Championship contender. But Leach crossed the lines a couple of times –allegedly – and the program had had enough.
His signature spread offense is in the wings – although new head coach Tommy Tuberville suggests that it will continue. It could be a tough transition for Texas Tech as they move forward without the man that made them.
2010 Preview To Bet Texas Tech Red Raiders
2010 is all about the transition of Leach to Tuberville, who is already predicting championships. It’s unclear how the locker room feels as some were attached to Leach and his style, while others – like Adam James – were mistreated by him. The players also took a liking to Ruffin McNeill, who was the interim coach in the Alamo Bowl.
Tuberville says the offense will be upbeat and up-tempo with a lot of passing. That’s likely more to appease the Leach backers than it is the truth as the Tuberville isn’t exactly known for this style of offense.
The Red Raiders also have a pair of good running backs in Baron Batch and Eric Stephens, so it will be hard to neglect them. Tuberville had a pair of special running backs at Auburn – Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams – that he rode to a perfect season, so don’t be surprised if he leans on them some more.
This is a new conference for Tuberville but a lot of NCAA football betting fans know he got a raw deal at his last job. He did a good job at Auburn and a decent job at Ole Miss while his hands were tied because of NCAA sanctions. Overall, he’s 85-40 in his 10 years between those two jobs and in the long run, should be a good fit for Texas Tech.
But this year will likely be a transitional year. The fans have to adjust, the players have to adjust and Tuberville has to adjust to the Big 12. The makeover will be fun to watch but right now, everyone in Lubbock is still stinging from the lost of Leach.
