Bet Virginia Tech Hokies – Hokies Take A Step Back In ACC Coastal

2009 Virginia Tech Hokies Betting Recap
Online betting players watched the Hokies have another typically stellar season, although they came up just short in their mission to win three straight ACC titles. The Hokies opened up the season by playing three ranked teams in their first four games, losing to Alabama in a neutral-site affair before beating Nebraska and Miami at home. Virginia Tech lost back-to-back at Georgia Tech and to North Carolina at home, then rattled off five wins in a row by an average of 23.8 points to end the season, including a 37-14 pounding of Tennessee in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl.
Ryan Williams set the school mark for most rushing yards in a season with 1,655 yards as the Hokies reached 10 wins for the sixth consecutive year, and they did it in their usual fashion: an offense that didn’t turn the ball over much and a stingy defense that was 12th in the country in that category. However, Tyrod Taylor had his best year by far as the Hokies’ starting quarterback and coach Frank Beamer looked more comfortable letting him throw the ball down the field.
2010 Preview To Bet Virginia Tech
The Hokies have to be considered one of the NCAA football betting favorites in the ACC once again, but this year, the offense may have to carry the load for a while. Taylor and Williams are back, while running back Darren Evans is healthy again and the Hokies could have two 1,000-yard backs. Taylor’s top four receivers are back from last year, so the offensive line will have to give him time find them, although it should be a largely run-based offense again from Beamer and company. There are only five returning starters back on defense, though, and the Hokies don’t have a kicker, which takes on extra importance when you realize how much Beamer stresses special teams.
Virginia Tech will begin the season in a neutral-site game against Boise State in a matchup that could end one team’s sportsbook chances for the national championship after one game, but the rest of the schedule is pretty tame until they get to November 4th, when the Hokies will aim to avenge their loss to Georgia Tech when the Yellow Jackets come to town. Then the Hokies kick off a tough road back-to-back at North Carolina and Miami in a stretch that could possibly decide the ACC Coastal champion.
The Hokies should be in the running for the Coastal title, but that back-to-back at North Carolina and Miami is a huge hurdle. Also, the Hurricanes, Tar Heels and Yellow Jackets are all improved, so it’ll be up to the Hokies to keep pace. The Hokies have a favorable schedule for the most part, but we’re not sure that the defense will be able to be as strong as previous units at Virginia Tech, and with the rest of the division getting better, we would hold back on laying a sports betting wager with the Hokies this year, although they should get 8-9 wins
