Florida Gators Odds - Gators have enough power to repeat as BCS champs
Florida's NCAA football betting odds are well deserved as the Gators are on the hunt for their third BCS crown in four seasons under coach Urban Meyer. But first, they need to get out of the SEC, arguably the toughest conference in college football.
Florida Gators Odds – Tebow looking for another Heisman, BCS title
- Tebow could be even better this year
- Defense is back fully intact
- Meyer could be the best motivator in the nation
Tim Tebow is one of seven players back on the offensive side of the ball, and the 2007 Heisman winner has a chance to cement his legacy among the greats of college football. If he leaves school with two Heismans and three national championships, you have to put him up there. The Gators will have to replace all-around threat Percy Harvin, but Chris Rainey could be the next in line in the Gators’ lethal spread offense with most of the attention focused on Tebow. Three starters return up front, and that is a definite bonus when it comes to your sports betting picks.
The entire defense is back after finishing 15th in the nation last year, and the biggest returnee was linebacker Brandon Spikes, who flirted with the NFL draft before coming back to finish what he started. He leads a linebacking core that has been in place for two straight seasons, and that type of continuity can only boost their online betting lines. The Florida secondary that played so well in the BCS bowl win over Oklahoma is also back, and like the rest of the team, they could be even better, which is downright frightening.
The Florida Gators odds are favoring them at +175 to win the BCS, but like last year when they had the second-toughest schedule in the country, they’ll have to navigate some landmines. September 19th’s visit from Tennessee will have some fireworks, given what Volunteers’ coach Lane Kiffin has been saying in his first season in the SEC. After an October 10th visit to LSU - which will be tough - the Gators have a Halloween date with Georgia in another edition of the “World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party,” and after what happened last year, you can bet that the Bulldogs will want some payback. Finally, the Gators will wrap up their season by hosting Florida State.
But they’ve got the best coach in the nation in Meyer, whose ruthlessness was shown when he took all three timeouts late in the Georgia game when up by 39 points. This was payback for the 2007 game, when the entire Georgia team celebrated in the end zone after their first touchdown en route to a win. This shows how far Meyer and his team will go to prove they’re the best in the nation, and something similar will happen to Florida’s opponents this year, especially Tennessee. Look for the Gators to steamroll their way through the SEC, and another trip to the BCS title game is looming. Sports betting sharps should recommend the Gators very highly.
