Georgia Tech vs Miami Odds maker breakdown: What’s On The Line
The No.14 Yellow Jackets head out on the road for the first time this season, and they’re coming off a tough win over Clemson in which they let a 24-7 halftime lead evaporate before holding on for a 30-27 victory. The No.20 Hurricanes joined the rankings with a 38-34 upset at Florida State, and it’s their second in a four-game stretch against ranked teams. Miami also won their last three home games of 2008 and are looking to keep it up. Betting Edge: Miami
Georgia Tech vs Miami Odds maker breakdown: Offense
Georgia Tech’s triple-option is geared towards the run, and they’re fourth in the nation on the ground, led by Jonathon Dwyer and Josh Nesbitt, who has been horrible when throwing the ball. Still, with nine returning starters, the Yellow Jackets have more than enough experience on offense. Throwing wasn’t a problem for Jacory Harris, who passed for a career-high 386 yards against the Seminoles, the most ever for a Miami quarterback during that bitter rivalry. The Hurricanes ran for 90 yards, but they’ll need to step that up as Harris has never been known for his consistency. Betting Edge: Draw
Georgia Tech vs Miami Odds maker breakdown: Defense
The Yellow Jackets fell asleep during the third quarter, allowing Clemson to get back into the game, and if you want to be an online betting favorite in college football, you can’t have defensive lapses like they did last Thursday. The Hurricanes lost coordinator Bill Young to Oklahoma State, and the defense allowed 404 yards and 34 points against the Seminoles, although they made a great stand to seal it late. Betting Edge: Georgia Tech
Georgia Tech vs Miami Odds maker breakdown: Notable Injuries
The Yellow Jackets are healthy heading into this game, while safeties Vaughn Telemaque and Ryan Hill are questionable for Miami after missing the Florida State game. Defensive end Eric Moncur is also ready to go for the Hurricanes, but how healthy is he after a groin injury? Betting Edge: Georgia Tech
Georgia Tech vs Miami breakdown: Outlook and Pick
The Yellow Jackets ran for 472 yards in last year’s 41-23 rout of Miami, which was their fourth straight win over the Hurricanes. Georgia Tech has also won their last two trips to Miami, and they’ll need their defense to play 60 minutes of football, because the Hurricanes have shown they can put up points in a hurry. However, they also give up a lot, and I’m still not sure they can handle the triple-option. In a high-scoring affair that should go over the total, take the more-experienced Yellow Jackets.
