The Miami (Ohio) Redhawks will look to complete the biggest turnaround in college football betting when they take on the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders in the GoDaddy.com bowl on Thursday. Miami won just 1 of 12 games a year ago, but has re-established itself in the MAC with a 9-4 record and conference championship.

The Redhawks will have a tough time closing out against another opponent with a strong ground game, as they try to slow down running back Phillip Tanner and the Blue Raiders’ offense. Middle Tennessee won its final three games to finish .500 in 2010, including a 5-3 mark in the Sun Belt conference.

The Blue Raiders won three in a row to close their season and clinch a spot in a postseason game, marking the first time they have clinched a bowl game in consecutive years since joining the FBS in 1999. Quarterback Dwight Dasher has looked good since returning from a four-game suspension to open the season for accepting a loan, and played one of the best games of his career when he set a bowl record for rushing yards by a quarterback with 201 in Middle Tennessee’s 42-32 win over Southern Mississippi in last year’s New Orleans Bowl. Jamari Lattimore won Sun Belt defensive player of the year honors after matching a school record with 11.5 sacks, and will be unleashed to run wild and disrupt the Redhawks’ offense.

Those units begin with quarterback Austin Boucher and running back Thomas Merriweather, who each had outstanding performances in the win over FIU. Boucher threw for a career-high 333 yards and a touchdown in that championship game, while Merriweather continued to provide a consistent effort on the ground. Merriweather has run for an average of 111.4 yards per carry with six touchdowns through three straight wins, and should be given plenty of opportunities to make plays against a Blue Raiders’ defense that has allowed an average of 193.7 yards per game and 23 total rushing touchdowns.

The Match Up: Middle Tennessee vs. Miami (Ohio)

The Blue Raiders did an excellent sports betting bonus job to get to Alabama, but it won’t be easy to finish on a high note against a Redhawks’ team looking to complete the biggest turnaround in college football with one more victory. Miami (Ohio) has won nine games, including the MAC championship, and with Merriweather running wild they should have little problem running right through Middle Tennessee and clinching the GoDaddy.com bowl.
