Bet Ohio State Buckeyes – Buckeyes Back On Top In Big Ten
2009 Ohio State Buckeyes Betting Recap
Online betting specialists had to wonder about the direction of the 2009 Ohio State Buckeyes, but in the end, they were reminded why Jim Tressel is one of the elite coaches in all of college football.
Since he arrived at Ohio State in 2001, Tressel has done nothing but win. Tressel – who either won or shared the Big Ten title in 2002, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008 – claimed yet another league trophy this past season, but it didn’t look very good for Mister Sweater Vest midway through the journey. Ohio State suffered a wrenching non-conference loss at home to USC in September, in a game that really seemed to take the life out of the Buckeyes, up and down their roster. After then sleepwalking through a horrible loss to lowly Purdue, the Buckeyes were in a state of full-fledged crisis. Terrelle Pryor, the physically gifted OSU quarterback who was supposed to be a game-changer for the Scarlet and Gray, looked completely adrift, and everyone in Columbus wondered what was happening.
Not to worry. Tressel commandeered the ship safely into port, as Ohio State leaned on its defense and got just enough production from Pryor to make a late surge and win the Big Ten with a 27-24 overtime win over Iowa. As great as that accomplishment was, however, it was only the prelude to the truly big game, the first Rose Bowl of the Tressel era. If Ohio State couldn’t beat Oregon in Pasadena, the glory of the Big Ten title would have been diminished.
Instead, OSU rose up and physically demolished Oregon, 26-17, in a complete performance that made the college football world sit up and take notice.
2010 Preview To Bet Ohio State Buckeyes
NCAA football betting experts know that Jim Tressel is a top-tier sideline boss. Now that Terrelle Pryor has yet another year of seasoning under his belt, look out. Ohio State should dominate most of the games it plays in 2010, with a few key exceptions. The headliner on the Ohio State schedule is not the September non-conference matchup against Miami, though that’s a sexy game to be sure. The biggie in Buckeye land is the road date at Iowa on November 20. Just one week before the Michigan finale, OSU will have to retain focus in a daunting road environment. Moreover, the Buckeyes and Mr. Pryor will be facing a swarming, ballhawking Iowa defense coached by Norm Parker, one of the very best defensive coordinators in the United States. That game in Iowa City will demand all of this team’s resources. OSU should thrive on defense in that contest, but points will come at a premium and victory will have to be earned with uncommon effort. Maybe Iowa will lose twice in other games; in all likelihood, the confrontation with the Hawkeyes will decide the Big Ten. The comfort zone for OSU comes in the fact that, as sports betting analysts know, an 11-1 OSU team would still get a BCS bowl bid even if it were to lose the Big Ten to Iowa.
