Oklahoma Sooners Odds - Sooners will be BCS-bound again
The Oklahoma Sooners odds to win it all aren’t as good as the Florida Gators, but there’s a reason for that. Online betting handicappers know that while both teams will be favorites to win the BCS this year, Oklahoma has had a tough time winning BCS bowls under head coach Bob Stoops. Even so, another appearance isn’t too bad.
Oklahoma Sooners odds: Heisman winner Bradford leads the way
- Sooners aim for fourth Big 12 title in a row
- Eight foes on schedule played in bowl games last year
- Stoops is one of four coaches in Oklahoma history to win 100+ games
The Oklahoma Sooners odds to win the Big 12 are split with the Texas Longhorns, as many people recognize that the conference will go to one of those two teams. After last year’s deadlock in which Oklahoma advanced via a fluky tiebreaking procedure, this year there will be even more intensity at the Red River Shootout.
The Sooners again have a tough schedule, but last year they went through the toughest schedule in all of college football – some difficult foes won’t slow this team down. As most sportsbook odds makers know, the Sooners were a high-scoring machine last year, scoring over 60 points in four straight games, and they’ll likely be similar this year. With Sam Bradford back and plenty of weapons on offense – including a loaded backfield - the Oklahoma Sooners odds for totals will be high every week.
While the Sooners had no problems racking up the points last season, their defense wasn’t as good as it had been in previous years. That might change now that nine starters return on that side of the ball. While the Sooners lost its two most productive wideouts and four offensive linemen, this is a team that has the cupboards stocked. There is so much talent on the sidelines waiting to prove the coaching staff wrong for sitting them last year that there really won’t be much of a hiccup in production.
The Sooners odds to win the Big 12 – and BCS Championship – are high, but their whole season will be decided by two games: the Red River Shootout, which will be played against Texas in Dallas on February 17th, and their finale against Oklahoma State. Given their roster and their pedigree, college football betting handicappers should expect them to beat Texas, handle the Bedlam and play for another BCS Championship in 2010.
