Ole Miss vs Mississippi State Betting Odds - Ole Miss offense rolls over Mississippi State defense
Ole Miss were thought to be online betting darkhorses in the SEC before a rough midseason patch, but they’ve rebounded for a good finish. The Rebels look to close out their regular season on a high note when they head to Mississippi State for a rivalry showdown, and the Rebels’ potent offense should have no problems against a leaky Bulldogs’ defense.

Ole Miss vs Mississippi State betting odds breakdown: What’s On The Line
The No.25 Rebels (8-3, 4-3) have won three in a row, but they needed a little help (via terrible clock management from Tigers coach Les Miles) in a 25-23 win over LSU on their Senior Day. The Bulldogs (4-7, 2-5) were doubled 42-21 at Arkansas, and they’ll miss out on bowl season for the second straight year. This will be the 106th edition of the Egg Bowl, which Ole Miss won last year with a 45-0 destruction of the Bulldogs in Oxford, and the Bulldogs would love to put a damper on the campaign of their state rivals.

Ole Miss vs Mississippi State betting odds breakdown: Offense
In Dexter McCluster, the Rebels have one of the most electrifying players in the nation, and he ran for 148 yards in last week’s win over LSU, along with the first touchdown pass of his career. He was almost embarrassed for allowing the Tigers to recover an offside kick late in the game, but Miles’ mismanagement of the clock spared his blushes. McCluster’s ability to run takes pressure off of Jevan Snead, who hasn’t thrown a touchdown in two straight games.
The Bulldogs have their own weapon in Anthony Dixon, who powers the No.12 rushing attack in the country. Dixon ran for 176 yards and a pair of scores against the Razorbacks, but you can only go so far without being able to pass, and Mississippi State have shown no faith in quarterbacks Chris Relf and Tyson Lee.

Ole Miss vs Mississippi State betting odds breakdown: Defense
The Ole Miss defense is 19th in the country, but they broke down late in the LSU game, particularly against the pass, so it’s a good thing that Mississippi State doesn’t go through the air. The Rebels are 18th in sacks, and they got to the Bulldogs’ quarterbacks a school-record 11 times in last year’s Egg Bowl. Look for ends Kentrelle Lockett and Greg Hardy to be a factor.
The Bulldogs are 62nd in the nation in defense, but the secondary got exposed against Arkansas, allowing 313 yards through the air. A lot of their problems boil down to a poor pass rush, as Mississippi State is tied for 98th in the nation in sacks.

Ole Miss vs Mississippi State betting odds breakdown: Notable Injuries
Ole Miss is healthy for this rivalry game, which doesn’t bode well for Mississippi State’s sportsbook chances.
The Bulldogs rested end Brandon Cooper (back) last week, but he’ll be back for this game.

Ole Miss vs Mississippi State betting breakdown: Outlook and Pick
These two have split their last four meetings, with the home team winning each time. However, the Rebels should buck that trend this year. Their defense can handle Dixon, and if they can force the Mississippi State quarterbacks to throw it, it plays into their hands. The Bulldogs’ secondary will have a wild time trying to slow down McCluster, Snead and receiver Shay Hodge, and the defense as a whole has allowed an average of 31.5 points over their last four games.
