USC Trojans Odds - Trojans reloading, not rebuilding
A quick glance at the USC Trojans odds and you’d think it’s just another season. With Pete Carroll at the helm, that’s exactly what it will be. While many pundits and media outlets believe that USC might be a bit vulnerable this year, the sportsbook odds makers aren’t buying it.
USC Trojans odds:
- Trojans return entire starting offensive line
- Have to replace eight starters on defense
- Trojans still the best team in the Pac 10
The USC Trojans odds are a bit lower than normal because the Trojans sent 11 players to the NFL this offseason. With many of them taken on the first day of the draft, the Trojans will have to replace some talent. But online sports betting cappers know that when USC loses one player, someone else is there to step up.
On offense, the Trojans have made easy transitions at quarterback from Carson Palmer, to Matt Leinart, to John David Booty, to Mark Sanchez, and they’ll try to keep it smooth as Aaron Corp takes over. Corp, a sophomore, has been impressive with his accuracy and he looks like a quarterback who will consistently make smart decisions. Beyond that, with nine other starters returning on offense - including all five offensive linemen and the entire backfield - the Trojans are going to maul some teams on the ground. With a good running game to rely on, they will give Corp plenty of support and time to develop.
On paper, the defense has more work to do than the offense, since they lost eight starters there, but the Trojans still look strong. Already, their secondary could be as good as anyone in the country, and having a leader like safety Taylor Mays is going to be a big plus. While the defensive line has to replace three starters, Everson Griffen is a dominant end already.
The Trojans have lost a lot of players, most notably quarterback Mark Sanchez, but as football betting experts have seen in the past, the Trojans make smooth transitions. While Cal and Oregon will keep them company in the Pac 10, USC is still the cream of the crop and should be back in the Rose Bowl once again.
