NCAAF Betting – Badgers Battling For Big Ten
Bet on sports – Wisconsin Badgers
- Can Wisconsin beat Ohio State at Camp Randall?
- Will lack of quarterback talent hinder their offense?
- Can the running game carry the Badgers?
The Wisconsin Badgers haven't been to back-to-back National Championship games, they aren't the Big Ten favorite and they aren't on the cover of Sports Illustrated.
But for those who follow online betting, they know that the Badgers could win the Big Ten this year.
The Badgers have one of the deepest backfields in the nation with three running backs that could legitimately start for most teams in the country and that's after booting Lance Smith off the team, who average six yards per carry last year. P.J. Hill is the bruiser while Zach Brown adds some speed. Redshirt freshman John Clay looks like a stud in the making too.
The offensive line has over 100 starts collectively, which makes a nice tag team with the deep running back corps. You can expect the Badgers to move the ball on the ground against every defense in the nation.
But the real difficulty on offense is the passing game. It's not the weapons as tight end Travis Beckum looks like a shoe-in first-round pick in the NFL and wideout David Gilreath is a speedster. The problem is the quarterback play.
The Badgers were brutal passing the ball last year and committed plenty of untimely turnovers. Whether it's Allan Evridge or Dustin Sherer, the Badgers just needs steady, mistake-free play.
On defense, the Badgers boast one of the better ones in the nation. The defensive line is a veteran unit, although a few of the linemen are recovering from injuries, and the linebacking corps could be the best in school history.
All three starters return at the second level and online betting aficionados will enjoy watching Jonathan Casillas fly around the field. He was the only non-senior to be voted captain last year.
The main concern on defense is at cornerback, where the Badgers have a big vacancy after Jack Ikegwuono left for the NFL. The Badgers will have two new starters there but the good news is that both starting safeties return.
The Badgers have played in a couple of January 1st bowls over the last couple of years but they are aiming higher this year. They get Ohio State at home and considering they have yet to lose at Camp Randall under head coach Bret Bielema (14-0), the Badgers could pull off the big upset.
Trips to Fresno State and Michigan in back-to-back weeks could be tricky but with a good running game and a good defense, winning on the road shouldn't be too arduous for this team. If the Buckeyes slip at all, the Badgers will be BCS bound.
