NCAAF Futures Betting – Georgia Starts As Top Dogs
NCAA football odds: Georgia Bulldogs
Betting sports fans are always weary of the top-ranked team in the pre-season. On one hand, it's good to be ranked this high this early because if you play out your schedule and win all the games and win out, no one can take your spot in the BCS Championship game. On the other hand, everyone will be gunning for you.
After stomping Hawaii and winning the Sugar Bowl to end last season, the Georgia Bulldogs are the highest-ranked team in the polls entering the season.
All of the excitement is in the backfield on offense and college football futures bettors know they have a good one. Running back Knowshon Moreno had a fantastic freshman season and teaming him with quarterback Matthew Stafford makes this one of the best combos in the country.
The lone concern on offense is the line where the Bulldogs got by with three freshman starters last year. They gained experience last year but also lost their starting left tackle for the season in training camp this season, which opens up a huge hole.
On defense, the Bulldogs have seven returning starters from a defense than finished ranked 14th in the nation.
The pass rush might be a little milder this year with the departure of Marcus Howard but they might not need as much of a rush since the secondary looks mighty strong. Asher Allen is one of the best in the SEC and safety Rashad Jones isn't too far behind.
The linebacker position is also stocked with Rennie Curran and Dannell Ellerbe, who could both be All-SEC by the end of the season.
What should concern college football futures bettors is the Bulldogs schedule. First off, they play in the toughest conference in the country and this year, which means trips to South Carolina, LSU and Auburn. It also means home visits from Alabama, Tennessee and a neutral site game against Florida, who probably isn't too happy about how Georgia toppled them last year.
Outside of the conference, Georgia gets a home game against Central Michigan, which is winnable but tricky, and makes a road trip to Arizona State, who is also a top 20 team.
There are too many land mines to emphatically project the Bulldogs as a National Championship favorite but there aren't enough hurdles to assume less than nine wins. The games against Florida, Auburn and LSU should produce at least a couple of losses but as long as the Bulldogs don't slip up anywhere else (unexpectedly) college football futures bettors that take the over on their regular season win total should be rewarded.

Blake walked onto his college football team and had a brief stint as an assistant coach after he graduated. He brings a sharp mind to the world of sports handicapping. Blake understands the nuances of the game that only someone who has played would understand, and he was one of the few who gave the Giants a chance against the Patriots in Super Bowl XLII.
