NCAAF Futures Betting – Sooners Heading Eyeing BCS
Sports betting futures – Oklahoma Sooners
College football futures bettors have to look into the past before they decide whether to bet over or under the Oklahoma Sooners regular season win total. They've made four BCS bowls in the last five seasons but lost each of them.
But in those anti-climatic seasons, the Sooners won 12, 12, 11 and 11 games.
The Sooners enter the 2008 season as the biggest favorite in the Big 12 and rightfully so. Their offense looks stacked with a mammoth offensive line and quarterback Sam Bradford returns after a record-setting freshman season.
With a big, stout offensive line and running backs DeMarco Murray and Chris Brown returning, you can expect the Sooners to wear teams down on the ground. Bradford is efficient and effective, and once again won't make too many mistakes if the running game supports him.
There are weapons at wide receiver but they aren't proven quite yet. Bradford's favorite target will be tight Jermaine Gresham, and college football futures bettors will get to know that he is one of the best tight ends in the Big 12.
On defense, the Sooners don't lack much. There might be some questions marks about the secondary – and even that might be nitpicking – but they have one of the most dominant defensive lines around.
Auston English is a demon off the edge while tackles DeMarcus Granger and Gerald McCoy might be the top tackle tandem in the nation. The run defense will be just as good as it has been – it's ranked in the top 20 in each of the last seven seasons – and if they can generate pressure, which it looks like they will do fairly frequently, the Sooners will have a strong defense.
Texas and Texas Tech are the two biggest contenders to Oklahoma to with the Big 12 South but the good news for Oklahoma is that Texas is rebuilding and Tech has to come to their backyard. There aren't any other pitfalls on the schedule.
College football futures bettors saw Bradford get hurt in the game against Texas Tech. At the time Oklahoma was winning and had they won it, they would have been in the BCS Championship game. Now they return with a talented roster that is hungry to win it all. Head coach Bob Stoops has learned from his failures in the BCS games and should be ready to lead this team to a national Championship.
