Favre turns Packer Land upside down with indecision
NFL odds: Favre ponders Green Bay return
For the most part, it was a very quiet week in the NFL for the betonline.com offshore sportsbook, but one story out of Green Bay was stealing the interest of online sports betting fans.
-Brett Favre is un-retiring. Or, at least, that's what everyone is reporting right now. Supposedly, Favre has contacted Packers head coach Mike McCarthy to discuss curbing his retirement plans for another season. This puts the Packers in a brutal bind, as they spent all offseason installing Aaron Rodgers as an offensive centerpiece and leader off the field.
Several things could happen, including the staff convincing Favre to stay retired (not likely), Rodgers being demoted for a Favre return, or the legend being shipped to another team.
Either way, it's a nightmare for the team if Favre decides to return. Green Bay is caught in a lose-lose situation. Do you tell the superstar who rebuilt the franchise to take a hike and risk alienating the fans, or give him the starting gig and almost assuredly burn any bridge left between you and the successor, Rodgers?
-Chicago recently signed second-round pick Matt Forte. The Bears cut ties with first-round bust Cedric Benson, and Forte figures to get most of his carries. There are a few options available in free agency, including big names like Shaun Alexander, but so far Chicago seems content to risk it with the rookie.
Forte is second on Tulane's rushing list with 4,265 career yards. He's the school's all-time leader in touchdowns (44) and rushing yards per game (99.2). Forte will get some help when fellow rookie Chris Williams signs; Williams should be a starter on the offensive line.
-Browns reciever Joe Jurevicius had knee surgery this week that could keep him from making training camp. His knee was “cleaned out” to help with previous damage he'd sustained there. A fan favorite, the steady Jurevicius had 50 catches and three touchdowns last season.
He doesn't put up a ton of points, but he's a great third-down target with reliable hands. Either way, Cleveland should be OK passing the football without him, as Kellen Winslow and Braylon Edwards give the offense plenty of juice.

Blake walked onto his college football team and had a brief stint as an assistant coach after he graduated. He brings a sharp mind to the world of sports handicapping. Blake understands the nuances of the game that only someone who has played would understand, and he was one of the few who gave the Giants a chance against the Patriots in Super Bowl XLII.
