- Tomlinson poised for big day against Denver
- Peterson and Forte will carry Team 6
- Jacobs looking to build momentum
It’s Week 2 in the betonline.com Fantasy Football challenge, where we pit six teams against each other for a unique fantasy football betting experience. The fantasy matchup is void if any players don’t play, so remember to pay attention to the injury reports before making your selection. Here is a look at this week’s matchups:
Team 1 vs. Team 2
The key player on Team 1 could be Arizona’s Larry Fitzgerald, who is going up against Miami this week. Miami doesn’t have a player who can keep up with Fitzgerald, especially since it must also cover Anquan Boldin. LaDainian Tomlinson of the Chargers could have a big day against Denver, as he’s averaged over 87 yards a game in 14 meetings against the Broncos in his career.
For Team 2, Tony Romo could have a hard time throwing against Philadelphia’s tough defense, but he is at home. Willie Parker of Pittsburgh could run wild on Cleveland, as the tough running back has put up 109.5 yards per game in six tries against the Browns.
Team 1 is favored with fantasy football betting odds of -140, but bet on Team 2 and their EVEN fantasy football odds—I smell a huge day from Parker, even on the road.
Team 4 vs. Team 6
Team 6 is the favorite with NFL fantasy football betting odds of -140, thanks to running backs Adrian Peterson (Vikings) and rookie Matt Forte (Bears), who ran for 123 yards and a score in his debut against Indianapolis. Peterson gets to try his hand at the Colts this week, while Forte will face a Carolina defense that allowed San Diego to rush for 105 yards last week.
Team 4 comes in as the underdog at +110 and the pressure is on Cincinnati’s Carson Palmer to have a big day at home against Tennessee. Palmer’s Bengals looked dreadful last week against Baltimore, and Tennessee’s defense is underrated. Green Bay’s Ryan Grant may have to carry the load against Detroit, but watch for the Giants’ Plaxico Burress, who had a huge day in the season opener against Washington. He plays the lethargic St. Louis Rams.
Still, expect Team 4’s running backs to carry the team to victory this week.
Team 3 vs. Team 5
This is the closest of all three matchups, as both teams come in with fantasy football betting odds of -115. For Team 3, it takes a big-time performance to take attention away from New York’s Brett Favre, who will face New England this week. But Atlanta’s Michael Turner did just that when he rushed for 220 yards against Detroit, the highest total of any running back in Week 1. This week, Turner will test himself against a tough Tampa Bay defense.
On Team 5, Giants running back Brandon Jacobs will look to build upon a solid Week 1 showing when he takes on St. Louis, which allowed Philadelphia to rack up an outlandish 522 yards of offense last week. This will be an entertaining fantasy football betting matchup to watch, and bet on Team 5 to snatch a hard-fought win.
TOUCHDOWNS COUNT AS 6 POINTS.1 POINT FOR EVERY 20 YARDS FROM THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE (ALWAYS ROUNDING DOWN).NO SPECIAL TEAMS YARDS. FANTASY MATCHUP IS VOIDED IF ANY OF THE PLAYERS DOES NOT PLAY THE GAME.
Stan Simmons first tasted football through the college game, but his football handicapping has strictly focused on the professional sport. Not many people devote as much time to the NFL as Simmons. For six days a week he works, labors and handicaps the sport, and on the seventh he rests as the games play out. Thoughts or questions?
