NFL halftime betting - Week 2 NFL odds
- Cleveland Browns need to make an early statement
- Houston Texans look for quick start at home
- New Orleans Saints look to keep on rolling on the road
Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cleveland Browns – Sunday, 8:15 PM ET at Cleveland Browns Stadium
The Cleveland Browns were spanked in front of their home crowd in their opener and if they don’t wake up soon, the same is bound to happen. The Dallas Cowboys might be the top team in the NFC but if you’re into NFL halftime betting, you should know that the NFC is a weaker conference than the AFC and the incoming Pittsburgh Steelers might be every bit as good as the Cowboys.
Given the difficulty of the Browns schedule, their playoff hopes will be flushed down the toilet with an 0-2 start. Look for them to start with a sense of urgency this Sunday and come through on NFL odds.
Stan's Pick: Browns first half
Baltimore Ravens @ Houston Texans – Sunday, 4:15 PM ET at Reliant Stadium
This is the perfect case of one team looking better than what they are and one team looking worse than what they are in the previous week. NFL halftime betting is always looking for situations like this.
The Ravens used turnovers to squeak by the Cincinnati Bengals while the Texans were clubbed by a strong Pittsburgh Steelers squad. The Texans are a good quality team while the Ravens will be sending out rookie quarterback Joe Flacco to make his first career NFL road start.
The Texans should bounce back and be much stronger at home.
Stan's Pick: Texans first half
New Orleans Saints @ Washington Redskins – Sunday, 1:00 PM ET at FedEx Field
It’s been one week and Washington Redskins head coach Jim Zorn is already on the hot seat. The Washington Redskins looked absolutely terrible on offense in their regular season opener and registered only 11 first downs.
The New Orleans Saints had a tough opening matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but persevered to a tough victory.
The Redskins offense is struggling and they continue to put their defense in bad positions. Expect the Saints offense to start quickly and take advantage.
Stan's Pick: Saints first half

Stan Simmons first tasted football through the college game, but his football handicapping has strictly focused on the professional sport. Not many people devote as much time to the NFL as Simmons. For six days a week he works, labors and handicaps the sport, and on the seventh he rests as the games play out. Thoughts or questions?
