49ers vs Seahawks Betting Odds - 49ers' road woes continue in Seattle
NFL Odds: Pick’Em Seattle |
Online betting players know that you have to be good on the road to get anywhere in the NFL, and San Francisco can’t seem to figure out how to win away from home. The 49ers will head to Seattle this weekend to face the Seahawks, and Qwest Field is one of the rowdiest places in the league to play. In what should be a high-scoring affair thanks to defensive injuries on both clubs, the Seahawks will deal a death blow to the 49ers playoff chances.

49ers vs Seahawks betting odds maker breakdown: The Storyline
The 49ers (5-6) beat Jacksonville 20-3 for their second win in three games, and they can leap back into the playoff picture with a win. The Seahawks (4-7) avoided a three-game skid with a 27-17 win at St. Louis, but there is still a worry that Matt Hasselbeck is banged up. San Francisco probably stands a better chance at making the playoffs, so they have more to play off this week.
Betting Edge: 49ers
49ers vs Seahawks betting odds maker breakdown: Offense
San Francisco is 28th in the league in offense, and while they weren’t that prolific against Jacksonville, they didn’t turn the ball over, and committed only one penalty. Alex Smith was 27-of-41 for 232 yards and a pair of scores, but the 49ers need to get Frank Gore going because it’s never good if Smith is throwing 40 times a game. It seems as though the 49ers are moving towards a spread offense, so we’ll see how that goes.
The Seahawks aren’t that much better at 21st in the NFL offensively, and an injured Hasselbeck has been the main focus of Seattle’s offensive problems. Hasselbeck was 14-of-25 for 102 yards against the Rams, but Justin Forsett has emerged as a weapon. The running back has two 100-yard games in his last three starts while Julius Jones recovers from a chest injury.

49ers vs Seahawks betting odds maker breakdown: Defense
You would think that the 49ers would be better defensively with Mike Singletary at the helm, but they’re only 22nd in the league, including a miserable 28th against the pass. Corner Nate Clements has been out for a month, while safety Michael Lewis has struggled. The 49ers get decent pressure on the quarterback, but it doesn’t matter if your coverage is suffering.
The Seahawks have also had injury worries on defense, and they’re 20th in the league on that side of the ball. Seattle is 25th against the pass, giving up 282 yards to St. Louis’ Kyle Boller. However, corner Marcus Trufant is playing better after missing the first part of the year with an injury.

49ers vs Seahawks betting odds maker breakdown: Notable Injuries
Clements (shoulder) and tackle Joe Staley (knee) are out, while Lewis (quadriceps) Linebacker Takeo Spikes (hamstring), lineman Kentwan Balmer (shoulder) and receiver Isaac Bruce (ankle) didn’t practice.
Lineman Cory Redding (concussion) is highly doubtful this week, while end Lawrence Jackson (groin) and linebacker D.D. Lewis (knee) didn’t practice. However, Jones (lung) should be ready to go.

49ers vs Seahawks betting odds for total: 41
The Week 2 meeting between these two went under the posted total, making it four in 10 games in which they’ve failed to break the over. We’re taking the over in our online sportsbook here, because the offenses showed some signs of life last weekend, and the defenses aren’t that good.

49ers vs Seahawks betting breakdown: Outlook and Pick
San Francisco has split their last 10 trips to Seattle, and last year’s 33-30 shootout win for the 49ers at Qwest Field was fun to watch. We may get another shootout this week, but it’ll go the way of the Seahawks. The 49ers are a brutal 1-4 on the road this year, although all of those losses have been decided by 10 points or less. Three of Seattle’s four wins have come at home, in front of some of the loudest fans in the NFL.
