The Bears vs Seahawks odds feature two teams heading in opposite directions. The Bears opened the NFL betting season on a low against Green Bay while the Seahawks dominated. Bears vs Seahawks odds maker breakdown: The Storyline
If Jay Cutler can lead the Bears to another win, fans will pile back onto the Chicago bandwagon. For Seattle, Matt Hasselbeck’s health is everything. Can the Seahawks win with without him? If he plays, can he still be effective with a broken rib?
Bears vs Seahawks odds maker breakdown: Offense
In Week 1, Seattle’s offense flourished. Hasselbeck established a rapport with tight end John Carlson and Julius Jones showed home-run ability at tailback. Week 2 was a totally different story; Hasselbeck went down and the 49ers totally stymied Seattle. Chicago lacks Seattle’s receiving depth but Jay Cutler is starting to find a groove; watch out for rookie Johnny Knox’s deep speed. Also, Matt Forte has been a major disappointment for Chicago so far. After seeing Frank Gore destroy Seattle’s front seven last week, however, I can’t help but think Week 3 is Forte’s coming out party. Betting Edge: Bears
Bears vs Seahawks odds maker breakdown: Defense
So far, Seattle has looked adequate against the pass...versus Marc Bulger and Shaun Hill. The Seahawks haven’t been tested aerially at all and that will change against Cutler this week. The Bears have done a solid job getting to the quarterback, recording six sacks through two games. That means the already-hurting Hasselbeck could have a miserable afternoon taking multiple shots from Adewale Ogunleye and company. If Hasselbeck doesn’t play, the Bears will have a field day against Seneca Wallace. Betting Edge: Bears
Bears vs Seahawks odds maker breakdown: Special Teams
Devin Hester remains a threat to house every kickoff or punt he touches. Robbie Gould has been absolutely perfect so far in the kicking game. How can Seattle compete with that online sports betting advantage? Betting Edge: Bears
Bears vs Seahawks odds maker breakdown: Notable Injuries
Losing Brian Urlacher for the season obviously hurts the Bears but Seattle’s injuries should affect the matchup much more. With Hasselbeck either out or playing hurt and Walter Jones still questionable to return at tackle, the Bears should penetrate Seattle’s line all day. Things could get very ugly. Betting Edge: Bears
Bears vs Seahawks betting breakdown: Outlook and Pick
Hasselbeck’s injury came at a horrible time, as the Bears are a brutal matchup for Seattle right now. Because Chicago should get ahead early, the win will be more about Matt Forte gouging Seattle’s front seven than Cutler picking the “D” apart. Expect Chicago to shut down Seattle’s offense and control the clock, so you should bet under the total. STAN’S PICK: Bears -1.5; UNDER 37
