Bet On NFL Football – NFC East Preview
The NFC East is widely considered the toughest division in all of football and for good reason. With the Redskins acquiring Donovan McNabb, you could state that all four teams are viable contenders for the crown. However, only one team will win the division, so let’s take this time to sort the contenders from the pretenders.
Betting On NFL Football: NFC East Preview
Online Betting odds: Dallas Cowboys (+105), New York Giants (+145), Philadelphia Eagles (+405), Washington Redskins (+145)
Dallas (+105): The Cowboys are the early favorite since they won the division last year. They were a cliché pick to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl, before running into the brick wall that were the Vikings. The Cowboys are loaded at every skill position on offense, and the addition of Dez Bryant adds to the receiving corps. The Cowboys are the favorite for the reason, and could be playing the Super Bowl in their home stadium.
New York (+145): The Giants are three years removed from their improbable Super Bowl win. The team missed out on the playoffs last year despite career-best stats from Eli Manning. The defense needs to rebound from a poor year (30th in the league in points allowed). They were, however, 13th in yardage. This proves if they shore up when it counts most, they will be right back in the mix.
Philadelphia (+405): Gone is Donovan McNabb, in is Kevin Kolb. Kolb showed us signs of success in limited action last season, but when opposing teams get the book on him, it will be a tough adjustment. Still, Philadelphia’s youth movement shows a core of a lot of young playmakers, and they have the goods to compete. Kolb may be one or two years away, though.
Washington (+145): The Redskins added McNabb, giving a quarterback with a winning culture. They also added new coach Mike Shanahan. The Redskins may improve, but have too many issues at wide receiver and an aging backfield. The infighting between Shanahan and Albert Haynesworth has already proved a distraction. McNabb may improve the team, but not enough to win this division.
Pick For Betting On NFL Football: Dallas Cowboys. Dallas is too loaded on both sides of the ball to be denied the division title.
Value Pick: New York Giants. If the Giants stay healthy, and keep opponents out of the end zone, they can win this division. At +145, it’s worth a shot on an elite level NFL team to win a division. If you are looking for good odds, the Giants are the play.
