Betting On NFL Football Online – NFC South Preview
On paper, the NFC South seems locked up to the New Orleans Saints. Let’s not forget, though, that this a division for many seasons that the team in last finished first the next year. Does that mean the Buccaneers and their great odds are worth a shot? That remains to be seen, but let’s take a dive into the division race for the South this season.
Betting On NFL Football Online: NFC South Division Preview
Online Betting odds: New Orleans Saints (-160), Atlanta Falcons (+215), Carolina Panthers (+950), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+2300)
New Orleans (-160): The defending Super Bowl Champions come into the season with a chip on their shoulder, as doubters have surfaced on their chances to repeat. The Saints come back with largely the same squad that won the Super Bowl, making them the clear-cut division favorites. Watch out though, Saints fans, Drew Brees is on the cover of Madden this season. Curse notwithstanding, it is tough to pick against the Saints.
Atlanta (+215): The Falcons won this division two seasons ago and took a step back last year. Matt Ryan is still one of the NFL’s young guns. The team did not get the production it did in their division title run out of Michael Turner. Turner is poised for a bounce back season. The Falcons are a team looking to reclaim their crown, overshadowed by the Saints success. At these odds, their chances are looking very good.
Carolina (+950): The Panthers are an intriguing team. They finished at .500 last season and as we know, they tend to do very well every other season. Does that mean they could take the crown? While I don’t believe much in karma, I do believe in what could be the best rushing attack in the NFL of DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart. Matt Moore will have to perform consistently in replacing Jake Delhomme, and there are questions at wide receiver after Steve Smith. The loss of Julius Peppers will also hurt the defense. The team could surprise, though.
Tampa Bay(+2300): The Buccaneers, will not surprise. The addition of Gerald McCoy will not be enough to improve this team. They will compete for the number one pick in the draft, which is a dubious distinction before the season starts. They did upset New Orleans last season, and Josh Freeman showed moderate success. Other than that, though, the Buccaneers do not have the firepower to compete with many NFL teams.
Betting On NFL Football Online Pick: Atlanta Falcons. I’m going to go out on a limb and pick the Falcons here. A different team seems to take the title in this division each season and the Falcons seem to have the goods to take care of things. They are a real competitor to the Saints. If New Orleans slips up a bit, Atlanta will pounce.
Value Pick: Carolina Panthers. At nearly 10 to one odds, the Panthers are worth a look. The power running game will take a lot of heat off of Matt Moore. Moore also has an elite weapon in Smith and the team seems to perform well every other season. The odds are worth a shot.
